Explain the last three years of Dirrell's career to me

During the super 6 tournament, he faked an injury and pull out of fighting Ward. Showtime got pissed at him for wasting everyone's time and pulling out of the fight.

After that, I don't know what happened. He was stupid enough to sign with Fiddy and is now in limbo.

i think when he comes back hes gonna be so hungry that u might see some guts from him, he got 2 big fights he didnt show no guts then gets no big fights for ages, i think he realises now this is a tough business and he cant **** about anymore because he already wasted so much time

 

im a big fan but then he proceeded to skip his last fight vs a top contender and i do not like that

 

hes was basically a coward who started losing the last rounds to Abraham so quit while ahead. He knows hes got a glass heart and so isnt really in the game despite the talent.
I dont think he beat Froch because he was horrible, utter horrible to watch and spent the entire fight running, clinching and fouling. I think hes only fighting for the money now, he glass hearted and hates the job hes in so only turns up when he needs the cash in the bank.

 

He knew he would make more money in a few years V Ward! Never had "brain damage" it was his eye that was the problem hth

 

He just doesn't have the mentality of a top level boxer. All the ability in the world and it's going to waste. People can moan about the Froch fight all they want but the fact is that he threw it away by fighting like a *****. The few times he let his hands go he looked wonderful but he spent the majority of that fight either turning his back/ducking way below the waist when Froch engaged, or flopping to the ground every time they clinched. That's cheating pure and simple. His fans usually retort with the 'Froch was rabbit punching' spiel, but what they never admit is that the reason he was doing it is because that's all Dirrell was presenting to him. If a guy is turning his back or ducking below your waist you don't have any other target to hit.

He then fought Abraham and just about everyone thought he was a lamb to the slaughter. For 9 rounds he then proceeded to take Abe to school, knocking him down in the process. It looked as if the ***** stuff that cost him the Froch fight was gone, however when Abraham started to land in the 10th round, it all came flooding back. Now, regarding the famous punch that got Abe DQ'd, I don't give a **** what people say, it barely skiffed him. Dirrell wasn't happy that he was starting to get caught in the previous round (including a knock down that was wrongly ruled a slip) and he took the easy route, knowin he was well ahead on points anyway.

The guy just doesn't have the heart for boxing, he looks great giving it but he simply cannot take it. That still doesn't explain why he took so long put after the Abraham fight. He could have at least faced a couple of non elite guys who wouldn't have enough to dish anything out to him and made some cash. But the guy's a basketcase, I suppose only he knows why.

The reason he's inactive now after finally making a comeback is that he was ******ed enough to sign with 50 Cent, who I don't think will ever get a show on a major network. That for is another example of Dirrell's awful mentality. Any boxer with half a brain knew that signing for 50 was a ridiculous thing to do.

He outboxed Froch for moments in the fight, but threw the chance of beating him away by holding, running and spoiling the match.. Basicly he couldn't keep the focus during the match, and it cost him..

He then went on to dominate Abraham, in a fight which had an unfurtunate ending.. I don't think he was acting, but Abraham was starting to make a late push, the final 1,5 rounds would have been interesting imo..
Abraham then went on to be beat atleast as convincingly by Froch and Ward...

Dirrell then took a huge break.. Came back and destroyed Cunningham.. And then disappeared again

Immature like hell.

I think this is what happened:

He was winning against Abraham. Clearly winning in a beautiful performance actually.

He got hit while down. He was no (imo.) KOed... I don't even think he was buzzed. But he did fall from the punch and there he had a second to decide what to do. He took the decision to stay down. "This is my story and I'm sticking to it!".

After the fight he got a lot of flack for what had happened. If he could do it over he would probably have gotten up and continued the fight and most probably win (although AA was coming on stronger).

But he did not get up. So now his mission was to 'prove' that he was seriously hurt... "...and I'm sticking to it!!!".

So he contacted doctors and so on...

He proved his point (with the help of Dr Shaw etc.)..

But having proven his point... he is now thinking... was it really worth it to loose 3 years over a wounded pride?

I think not. Just f....ing forget about it. You made a bad judgement call... So what. Let it go, and get it top shape again.

I think Dirrell is a top 4 guy for sure, and may be the one with the best chance at beating Ward in the division. On the other hand Dirrell is a bit fragile and Froch and Kessler might be rough for him. On the other hand I think he handles Bute. Because Bute tries to use speed and technique, but unfortunately I think Dirrell has more of both. At least he has more speed. He is imo without a doubt the fastest - also faster than Ward.

 

Andre Dirrelevant's biggest wins are a loss to Froch and a dubious DQ against a blown up middleweight.
