Could Anthony Joshua be being lined up by the BBC to bring boxing back to terrestrial TV? Since the Olympics, he has been given more attention by the BBC than any other medallist, and you could even argue that he has received more attention than most of the other Olympians. He has been taking part in quite a few of their shows, just today he was at my brother's university filming for another BBC show, not too sure what it was. Just a thought, maybe it is time boxing came back to terrestrial TV, but do you think AJ is the right one to do so?
Has he really been given attention by the BBC..? Nobody seems to care about Anthony Joshua, unlike when Audley Harrison won his Gold Medal.
There is no desire to repeat the Audley debacle at the BBC because of the sheer costs involved. The BBC if they were to show boxing again would likely hook up with a promoter and show someone like Joshua in highlights form at first.
I agree that he has been getting some pretty good exposure on the beeb, but I wouldn't read anything into it. I would absolutely love for the BBC to be back in the sport, they were always my favourite broadcasters, but I just don't see it happening.
Hmmm, maybe he should have. For me, it was either pro straight after, or 100% commit to 2016. The risk with that is, let's say he faces Savon in the first fight again, he goes home having lost his title, and then he becomes less marketable.
That's probably a good thing for Joshua in the long run though. All the publicity Audley got was detrimental to his pro development.
I don't care much for anthony joshua. he got through to the final of the olympics due to very poor scoring. he should have gone out to that cuban fighter. and in general he is a very slow, average fighter. i think he'll end up another audley harrison if he turns pro.
