Well Tszyu was contemplating retirement at the time so besides being 35 his heart was not in it.

However, the bigger difference is that a prime 27 yr old Hatton that Tszyu fought is both younger and better than a 35 yr old Senchenko who was just KOed by feather fisted Malignaggi.

but he was the champion, kind of different than a fighter with depression coming back after three years of hard drug abuse and contemplating suicide, bearing in mind his last fight before said drug addled lay-off was a brutal second round KO.

theres a big, big difference, must it be explained?

It's amazing how Tszyu fans try to put him in that bracket. He simply wasn't

You're stretching it a bit in my opinion. How could Hatton have done drugs for the last 3 years considering he checked himself into rehab 2 years ago and has claimed to be drug free since then. As for contemplating suicide, was he in that state of mind for months while preparing for this fight? If not, then it has no bearing on the outcome of the fight.

Point is at 35 Tsyzu had a much tougher opponent in a young prime Hatton than Hatton did against a 35 yr old opponent who is at fringe world level at best coming off a KO loss.

Actually he was in 2 year layoff before Mitchell fight and coming off few very serious career threatening injures and surgeries

Was Tzsyu coming back from 3 years inactivity, where he had balloned up to over 200lbs and had drink and substance abuse problems?

No, he was a world champ and was in the form of his career.

Hatton beat him. Deal with it

but it wouldnt have a bearing? being not retired, but KNOCKED into retirement? absolutely thrown around the ring by a guy you said was a featherweight?

Tszyu was the champion, he had just destroyed Sharmba Mitchell, he also had a far less active career than Hatton.

As for Senchekos level, I started getting a bad feeling as I watched the build up, Senchenko looked like a man on a mission, Hatton looked like a man looking for personal redemption.

Let's face it, Ricky Hatton had alterior motives for stepping into that ring, motives that weren't about winning world titles, but can I have one last shot to see if I still have it, he did, for about 3 rounds, then reality set in.

Vyacheslav Senchenko has a point to prove, he is still an active fighter with a high ranking, and a good amateur pedigree let's not forget, Paul Malignaggi said "That Senchenko(working in a public ring) looks a lot different than the one I saw on fight week, he looked lazy ad like he didn't wanna be there, that pad session looked very sharp"

It was all downhill from there, Senchenko did not wilt, he did what he had to do.

    :yep

I'm a bit of a Hatton fan myself, but you could clearly see Ricky nod to the ref when he was ready for a break etc.

When hatton lined up Kostya with that massive uppercut to the balls it was one of the most premeditated fouls i've seen in a boxing ring.
And the ref just smiled and gave hatton a pat on the back lol.
