it also helps that it was a Fight of the year caliber match and you get a recipe for a more hype up victor which turned out to be victor ortiz.

    He was indeed a titleholder.

Cotto and Pacquiao did NOT duck him.

Berto expressed his interest in fighting Manny many times, and Cotto ran to 154 to avoid a Berto match, people conviently forget things

I didn't say Berto would win, he would get slept early, the fight wouldn't last past round 3, but that doesn't excuse Manny for not even entertaining a Berto match

Yeah, they were both terrified. :rofl

Let alone that both beat Mosley, who even in old age was a superior version of the fast slugger.

    Hey I know this argument!

Berto hasn't fought anyone because everyone ducked him. :huh

    Pac
    Cotto
    Floyd
Mosley (didn't pursue the fight after fighting floyd)
    Bradley
    Alexander
    Khan

Ah welp at least he's got atg freddy hernandez for a dance partner

These rankings cannot be right. Mosley entered the 5/1/10 showdown with Mayweather as the #1 WW in the world. So, your list or the date is wrong...

    February 2010.

    1 Pac
2 Mosley - Lost to Mayweather, draw in a different weight class
    3 Floyd - Inactivity
4 Cotto - Did not fight at WW again.
5 Clottey - February 2010. He lost to Pac in March 2010 and dropped down.
    6 Berto
    7 Collazo

Yes, TS, it makes sense that he could rise in the rankings over the course of 14 months without facing anyone actually ahead of him.

I think you are bitter and trying to discredit Ortiz as the feared WW he was for about two months until Mayweather jumped on board and fought him.

He fought Collazo, and got the nod in what i would personally describe as a robbery

The good thing for Berto was the middle ranked guys were either losing fights or moving up in weight or a combination of both

At the time of Berto Ortiz i think he was rightfully ranked in the top 5

Im not sure he's ever been #2 though?

Pacquiao and Mayweather have held them rankings for what 3 years?

Welterweight division has been trash for years, and this includes the period when Pacquiao was beating other guys' leftovers. When past-prime Paulie winning a belt is considered an improvement, you know a division is weak.

The old link I had doesn't work but this one was recorded on Boxrec from the December 2009 ring mag

    http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine's_Annual_Ratings:_2009

I had been discrediting the win even before Mayweather even set eyes on the guy so I don't see your assertion there- Berto was hype and always has been. Hype has no substance when put against real competition, and Berto folded against even lesser than that
