..along with members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team on the undercard.

First time CBS has aired live boxing since Bernard Hopkins defended his IBF middleweight title against Glen Johnson in 1997.
..according to the bible of boxing

Good news for boxing, about time

    :happy

Leo Santa Cruz is a Must-See fighter.... fastly becoming a favorite

He throws 90-100+ punches per round, landing at an avg of 50%?!?!?

And his left body hook just doesn't miss...

    Great news :D

Last time a fighter was scheduled to box one of the big terrestrial tv channels in the US was Antonio Tarver about 4 years ago. They were trying to use Tarver's relative fame off the back of the Rocky Balboa movie. Anyway Tarver pulled out for some reason and that was the end of the card and they never made an effort to replace it think. Think it was CBS aswell.

It was mentioned around that time that Jose Luis Castillo was the last fighter to headline a card on one of the major US channels, sometime around 2000/2001.
They've got the perfect fighter to get the public interested anyway, Santa Cruz is entertainment gold and this will go a long way to raising his profile.

man, just caught his 1st title contention, versus Malinga, on a ShoBox replay....

1350 punches...... and total domination on a B+/A- fighter

It was supposed to be Antonio Tarver vs Elvir Muriqui, around the time of the Super Bowl a few years ago. Thankfully that did not happen. Love Santa Cruz as it is, as he is a good action fighter who will draw in fans hopefully.
