Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Canelo Alvarez

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Juiceboxbiotch, Nov 29, 2012.

  1. Who would win this matchup if it were to happen in May 2013?

Does Canelo have a chance? Would Mayweather show his age in this fight?

  2. I'll be honest, I think Canelo would be the one to break Floyd down and stop him late in the fight. This is based on Mayweather's performance in the Cotto fight. Canelo is bigger and faster than Cotto, his skillset is very mature and his youth would help him get the victory over an aging Mayweather (which is precisely why we will never see this fight, even though it would be HUGE money).

I'd like to see that fight, I think mayweathers experience in the later rounds of a fight get him the w.

I can't see Mayweather being any better than he was Vs. Cotto a year later. (Alvarez)
Not comparing Canelo's skills w/the seasoned Miguel but Floyd took alot of flush shots & was pinned against the ropes numerous times Vs. a much smaller man than Alvarez in Cotto.

Alvarez is a full fledged JMW with JMW Punching power, Floyd is aging & has to have ring rust. The time is now for this fight to happen. Any later than 2013 & it won't be competitive.

I definantly think Canelo stops Mayweather. At this stage at least.

Canelo, Pac, Martinez and Cotto 2. So many great fights that could be made!

  9. Why am I the only one who voted that way in the poll then?

Given the size and youth. Canelo. Bigger then Cotto and if Cotto could push Floyd to the ropes Canelo is gonna have him there most of the time.

Canelo give me a break he's fought nobody. He would get spanked from pillar to post by Floyd

The most likely occurrence would be Floyd winning by decision. However, I do think Canelo could beat him and it won't be as one sided as people think.

I dont understand this Canelo hype. His best win is Ryan Rhodes. He throws the same 3 punch combination, which is easy to counter, and is relatively easy to hit. Floyd UD.
