    aside from ward, a lot of the particpants like froch, kessler, and abraham are probably on the other end of their career as well. don't know about what direll has left and where his heart is. he might be one of those could've, should've, would've in boxing. felix sturm also just lost his last fight. but if anybody wants to feel nostalgic, i haven't heard holyfield or roy jones saying they are done yet.

    james toney hasn't been mentioned yet. but he'll probably still be around saying he'll fight the bitchko sisters, and david gaye because he's the greatest in the whirl! darchynian and arce are also probably close to retiring as well.

    The scary thing is, the one guy that is almost guaranteed to have the goods moving forward in his career as the complete package, Andre Ward, looks like he's going to have a severe lack of name opponents.

    i think this fight with pavlik is being used to make him a household name. pavlik's name still carries a lot of weight. chavez jr. might move up and that would give him some recognition with the mexican fans. and if you really push it i guess canelo in few years, and martinez could fight ward somewhere at a catch weight. you go light heavyweight there really is nobody. he'd beat on tavoris cloud like a drum and he already whipped dawson.

    Never thought about it like that but damn you guys are right. At least there is a good new generation to drive the sport forward with guys like Ward, Broner, Canelo, Donaire, Viloria, Trout, Rios, Santa Cruz, Gamboa, Mikey Garcia, etc. The haters may say how boxing is dead or is on it's way when PBF, Manny, JMM leave but they are clearly wrong.

    But this is probably a good thing as sad as it is. It means that there are young fighters with the talent to beat some legends (even though they're past their best) it's not like it is in the HW division where the same champs reign until they decide to retire.
