Probably because he has fought absolute bums in the pros Lets see what "Pricey" has got when he steps it up a level. Jury is still out
¨ I am with you on this one, Joe. Price is big strong, very powerfull and he comes to take your head off...Give him 3-4 good opponents over the next year, and I think he is ready for a titleshot....:deal
The problem is, will he beat 3-4 good opponents? He could get any HW in the world out of there with his right hand and he closes the show better than 99% of heavyweights out there but i'm seriously unconvinced by his defence.
His stamina worries me aswell, and he's not all that fast IMO .. he's not this destructive weapon people make him out to be .... he looks savage knocking out the guys he's knocking out,but that's not saying much atall. How is he going to react when he's not putting people away with single shots? How will his power carry against a good opponent into the later rounds? Basically how the **** is he going to look against decent opposition lol, can't wait to find out personally because he has the makings of being one of the great british HW's but so far I've been more impressed with the Fury.
Joe Louis was knocked down a dozen times in a single fight in the amateurs. In fact, he was down more than a few times as a pro. Last time I checked, Louis had an ATG career. Not that I'm saying Price will ever be even a fraction of what Louis was, but give the lad a chance. He's coming along nicely and so far he's done a lot more right than wrong.
Even though Price KO'd Skelton in the 2nd round, Price looked terrible to me. Fury would destroy Price and I think even Seth Mitchell is a good chance to beat him. Price is not the man to take over from the Klitschko's.
Agree. Wouldn't say he's "complete garbage"... on the main page one of his big supporters took me to task for simply questioning why Price keeps fighting 40+ y/olds. Said Price is coming along as planned :huh
Mitchell wouldn't beat Price. I do agree that Fury would beat him and rather easy. Fury is more Battle Tested. Not sure why they just don't go ahead and fight and get it over with. Winner could fight Wlad and make huge money.
Ah the old obsession with chins coming out again. Barring a couple of freaks, EVERYONE can be knocked down and out. The vast majority of the ATGs have at least been KD'd,and many have been KO'd.
He's a good prospect, but as long as he's only fighting 40 year old men there's no way to know if he's the real deal. Fury's beaten Johnson and Chisora and thus is quite a bit more accomplished and 5 years younger. Price is 29 and needs to step it up soon. Tony Thompson is 41 and coming off a ko loss. Not much to get excited about.
A loss to Wladimir Klitschko in a mandatory title fight, Johnson was coming off a loss to Tor Hamer in Prizefighter. Say what you will about his age but Thompson is a big step up for Price and ranked 9th in the world by the IBF.
if thats true then why fight domestic journy men and not get opposition in from europe or across the pond?? i dont fall for price beats everyone fury fights logic..either step up or shut up simple as that...thats just the same line haye fans use to justify poor opponents... i wanna rematch mormeck because i know id beat chagaev so whats the point...blah blah blah
WELL ... tbf it was 3 standing counts for Johnson and 3 times on the floor for Price according to the BBC report http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/commonwealth_games/4835800.stm But you can see from this and all the other times he went down why people have reason to suspect when he does finally step up a level he is an accident waiting to happen :good
