    What they're saying is 100% true, phd or not. Not everybody responds well to altitude training either, there's a genetic component to it as well. Altitude training is very over rated.

    Trout kept Cotto from dictating the pace of the fight and he kept him off balance even when he was trying to mount an offense (when do you ever see Cotto off balance?), and that is why he won.

    NO, Trout spanked him. Quit making excuses for that punk ass *****. He deserves to lose. He's almost as bad at whining as JuanMa. Must be the water on that island.

    Yeah really ?im sure trainers like Manny Stewart, Eddie Futch ,Cus Demato knew how to train fighters to get them to perform at their best ...But let you tell it ..But then again today's trainers are a different story so you may be on to something.

    Yeah they were great teachers of boxing but obviously pretty clueless when it comes to human physiology and advances in training, that's not what they do.

    I think those advancements are highly overrated and that's why the sport of boxing has suffered . I mean I read back in the day don't recall which trainer it was where he was asked about high altitude training could have been Dundee with regards to Ali and he was asked about it and I think he said something along the lines of well if the fight is in a high altitude area well you acclimate yourself to that part of the world weeks before the fight so you can get use to the air ..It makes no sens to train at high altitudes if your not going to fight at a high altitude .It was pretty cut and dry and made sense .I don't recall him being a PHD but he sure knew how to train champions ,which at the end of the day that's all that mattered .

    Yeah, unless the event your training for is at high altitude it makes little sense to train there. Many elite cyclists train at sea level where the greater oxygen uptake allows them to train harder. Then they recover at high altitude or use a high elevation tent or sleeping bag to raise their red blood cell concentration. Unless your on Everest, high altitude won't raise the count so high as to turn it into sludge. The drug EPO given to cancer patients and misused by many endurance athletes will and has resulted in heart failure for those who dared push the effects that far.

    *Floyd cheated and gained too much weight
    * Chris John sucks!
    * Norwood lost !
    * Manny lost that fight !

    JMM is the best ever...6 losses ain't **** !

    Anyhow, Cotto just needs to eat that tainted Mexican Beef for that ripped physique at 40 yrs old.

    I really think that high altitude training had an effect on Cotto's performance . Maybe his blood count turned into sludge thus resulting into his sluggish performance down the stretch .
