Wlad gets severely underrated in H2H matchups

No one forces you to watch this "disgrace" fight yet i see you nearly on every K2 thread talking ****.

Just to put this in perspective, Holyfield clinched Tyson an average of 15 times a round. He got away with and Wlad would, too. For the record, I would favor Tyson, but to write Wlad off completely is ridiculous. Wlad has very good footwork, a fantastic jab+right hand and left hook, and is amazingly disciplined at forcing the other guy to fight his fight. He ain't no Tony Tucker.

 

Wlad doesnt have the agression and chin to afford to go balls out after tyson and really hurt him, and i genuinely think that Tyson would get to him sooner then Wlad would get to Tyson.

I would actually favor Vitali in an all out war against tyson if his skin holds on or doesnt get another freak injury but with Wlad is another matter, wlad is all about finesse, working behind the jab keeping his foe at distance pawing with the left hand and planning the next move, and prime Tyson had the abilities required to beat Wlads style.

True Wlad would grabs anyone who would get past that jab but i still think Tyson would get a sneaky one in sooner or later.

If the fight is in Germany Wlad lasts longer due to the illegal tactics he's allowed to get away with. With a non-corrupt ref though Tyson knocks him out within 5.

 

Pinklon Thomas was better than Tubbs or Tucker, a better performance by Tyson too.

 

Tyson would have next to zero chance to beat Wlad, I consider Lewis to be the only favourite H2H against him amongst the old greats.

 

Because world beaters like Puritty, Sanders, and Brewster only have a chance?

Without getting into the Wlad-Tyson debate:

Holmes was 38, and while well past his prime still went on to beat Mercer and extend Holyfield and McCall.

Spinks in the latter stages of his career was a genuine (albeit small) heavyweight. As a heavy he was very competitive against Holmes, and handled Cooney without too much trouble.


Tyson's resume isn't amazing by any stretch, but let's not go overboard in discrediting his better wins.

 

Need I remind you of Tyson's losses, fool? They stack up a lot worse than Wlad's, mind you, momma's basement hater

 

Sam Peter, who is one of the worst World champions ever, got inside, found his way to Wlads chin and had him panicking and flapping around on the ground like a fish out of water.

Yeah go ahead and bring up who Tyson lost to when he was shot, on drugs, and only fighting to pay his bills

Ross Puritty was a JOURNEYMAN with 20 losses on his resume and he bounced Wlad around like a pinball and carried him around like a child

Corrie Sanders was effectively retired and fought 3 rounds in 3 years and at the age of 37 his hand speed dumbfounded Wlad. He was a 40-1 under dog and he made Wlad crawl over the canvas like a ****** 4 times in 2 rounds. And he took the fight on short notice.

Brewster beat Wlad and made him look like a drunk, with Steward in his corner.

Tyson was the face of boxing and the youngest heavyweight champion ever. His power, speed, and skill were unparalleled and unmatched. Wlad was scared to engage David Haye, he would have an acute MI if he ever fought Tyson.

 

Wlad has covered up his real weaknesses through training and adopting a new style/approach. It doesn't completely rid him of that weakness, it only protects it. Effectively I might add. His chin is suspect, he panics under pressure, and his ability to do anything inside beyond holding is a worry. That is a character flaw, not really a technical one. There have been guys in the recent and not so recent past who would have gotten past his rather simplistic style (yes, it's effective) and in range to exploit his weaknesses. Exploit enough to win? Not all, but definitely some. It's hard to keep in perspective when he's dominating, but look at the men he's dominating and compare them to champs and top contenders in the past. No comparison really. Any unbiased eye can see that. He stacks up well h2h, but does lose a few.

 

I agree with much of what you have said, very reasonable post. But Louis? Louis would be slaughtered. It would be like a man against a boy.
