This thread was destined to turn into boxrec warrior ****. There's only one poster with Joe Cal boxrec **** saved on his hard drive.

    You knew this would happen.

Yeah, I sort of regret it now. I guess the reasoning was we'd be more likely to get a more honest response with the anonymous poll, but it's come at the expense of some lulz and lack of opportunity to dispense some well deserved ridicule.

Lots of fighters say lots of crazy **** when making comparisons, and frequently to draw attention to themselves. We can watch the fights for ourselves and don't need to take their word for it. I like Bika and don't doubt he believes that, but personal testimonial has no place in a resume discussion.

If you want to stake Calzaghe's claim for greatness on the shoulders of Byron Mitchell, by all means, have at it. That's a solid B-level win, nothing more.

Adamek was undefeated at 175 and a significant favorite versus Dawson. You can't very well discredit that win, particularly as Adamek fought hard and got a late KD. Johnson was a legitimate top-five LHW who beat a better version of Tarver than Hopkins or Dawson did. He also fought well against Clinton Woods, another solid guy in his prime.

Pavlik has shown nothing above 166, and the Hopkins fight was at 170. Dawson has by far better credentials at 175 than Hopkins. Surprised anyone would even attempt that argument.

GJE, his three alts, Headbanger, his alts. Once the "team defeat" guys really fire up the alts it will get closer. I'd say 30ish never votes by tomorrow.

No ****. Need to bow out of that one and go work out. Agree that Hopkins moving up rejuvenated his career, but he really wasn't the same after about 2002. I think that's when he turned 35. Anyway, thanks for the discussion. :rasta

Ward - Dawson, Froch, Abraham, Bika, Green, Kessler and now Pavlik

Calzaghe - Jones, Hopkins, Kessler, Bika, Lacy, Eubank, Reid, Mitchel, Brewer, Woodhall, Veit 2x, Sheika, Starie

    Hopkins (2008) > (2012) Dawson
43 Year old hopkins went onto beat Pavlik and Pascal and become oldest world champion at 46

    Kessler (2007) > (2009) Kessler
Ward spoiled and fouled only to get a TD win after Kesslers lay offs and defeat to calzaghe

    Bika (2007) > (2010) Bika
Bika was sharper and harder to hit in 2007, Joe won more decisevly

    Eubank (1997) > (2011) Froch
Froch is technically clumbsy whilst Eubank was a more crafty fighter

    Brewer (2002) > (2010) Green
Brewer should have been IBF champion, Green went onto to get ko'd twice and lost to miranda

    Mitchell (2003) > (2012) Pavlik
Mitchell was prime and should have been WBA champion whilst Pavlik is a recovering alcoholic with losses to hopkins (175) and martinez (160)
