Just got my first fight booked January 25th...at heavyweight my opponents a judo guy apparently he's 1-1 33 years old. Can't wait!!! It's amateur so no elbows which sucks for me as a wrestler. No knees to head either though so that's probably a plus
I come from a wrestling background but trained at sort of a karate/muay thai hybrid style gym over the summer so have some striking and have boxed in a few backyard boxing matches I got into it from helping training a number of pro fighters (brought in for my wrestling) and being a huge boxing and MMA fan it was a natural transition. Been grappling consistently for a little bit now, haven't done any real striking since the summer though so its good i have some time to work on it before fight time. Anyone else here have any fights, amateur or professional..any stories?
Don't waste your energy. Take it easy the first round, feel your opponent out and believe me your training will naturally tell you what to do and when. Experience: 20 ameteur boxing fights. I am also training to fight in MMA currently at 185 lbs.
