I think the answer as to why the cost is so high in the US is "because they can".

I guess that's just the economics of the UK. To me its a fair trade off. The big US boxing fights tend to start very late over there, and for the fights you usually pay for at a reasonable time(Klitschko, Haye, Hatton) we usually get for free, or on a premium channel.

Since de la hoya vs mayweather I have been ordering fights. Its a party every time!! Usually have about 25 people over (guys and girls) and everyone is actually into the fight. Infact, due to 24/7 and my friends getting to see some good fights at these, most people are really into boxing now. Its awesome!!
Another thing that helps is gambling :D we bet on squares. I draw out 12 rounds, ud, sd, draw. You pay $2 per square. Once you pay 2 bucks, you get a ticket....write your name on the ticket, put it in the pot. I draw names as to who gets to pick first, and keep drawing until every round is full....Winner gets the pot :D

Boxing is a hell of alot of fun with a big group of people.

exactly. I have not watched a live fight in years. I go to a chatroom and follow the comments of other people.

Because the UKs market value would generate nowhere near that money plus any agreements between the arenas and HBO have nothing to do with UK providers, likewise deals made with US promoters and US broadcasters.

Basically a UK provider buys only the fight feed from somebody like HBO and they don't pay that much at all. It's a little get back for the UK station to sell it as a PPV in reality they should not do it, other broadcasters in Europe / Austrailia and Asia who bought it from HBO charge nothing- much like most US fights over here.

You should actually be mad that it's not free like in mainland europe Asia Austrailia etc who also get internation rights-
not happy it's less than the states :good

Some of the fights the UK have had on PPV are horrendous. Imagine how many buys Khan v McCloskey or Haye v Harrison would of done if they were $70 a pop

Oh I'm not saying I'm happy or unhappy just stating what happens. We don't really get that many HBO fights on PPV unless primetime get's hold of them. Skysports don't charge for the HBO fights unless it involved Hatton.

So what about the Skysports producded fights that are PPV and still only £15?

Sky have charged plently of PPV over the years for heavyweight fights as well as some de la hoya fights and a few others here and there as well as the British fighters.
It's just SKY ripping you off for extra money.

Take Haye vs Wlad or Haye v Valuev, they were PPV on SKY in the UK.

Yet if you pointed your dish over to the German sat they were for free.
The Germans wouldnt take that crap , those fights were free international as well.

Its the fact that enough people will pay that makes them do it.

Like Cottos last fight was PPV only in Puerto Rico.

Dont get a SKY package . Theres plently of better sat options out there that dont do PPV and have no subscription fees.
