As long as idiots pay for stupid fights, prices go up! I can't remember the last fight worth PPV to be honest. Mayweather v DLH was a big let down IMHO.
I am lucky enough to have friends that like boxing.... but if I can imagine not everyone is so lucky to have friends interested enough in the sport that they are willing to fork out some money to come watch something they dont care about. If you dont have friends that like boxing, it can be an expensive sport to be a fan of.
Not sure where you live, but in my cities they are showing the UFC, not Pac. Its very hard to find a bar that carries boxing thats not a mayweather fight where Im from, especially if theres UFC on the same night.
I dont know what they are trying to do but this is a bad business model theyre implementing. I see it from their POV that they want to make the most now and when the fun ends (Pac/Floyd retires), hey they made their money. The problem is in reality, you would make more money doing volume. Its been proven in history, volume means money. If they had priced it $29.95 people would order this alone in their house. Id like to see how they analyze the figures because at $70 per show, you have now parties with 50 people to watch this in someones house. Ive noticed this in the last few years aswell. If it was $29.95, I bet they triple the numbers and leave alot of goodwill for the brand as they would show they understand this economy.
$70 is £43- That is absolutely ridiculous. I wasn't much more than than for a ticket to watch Ricky Burns and Carl Froch at shows recently. How do the TV stations justify this price in the media?
I am lucky there are bars a few minutes walk from my place that show all PPVs without a cover charge. But tonight I am going to a holiday party so will order the fight and get some buddies to chip in $
Damn il pay any price to see this fight, my cable provider in UAE doesnt cover up the PPV this time unlike Pac's previous 2 bouts which comes free live. I had to get that damn filipino channel just to watch it but too late now...
In Mexico all fights are free on National TV, they delay the transmission 1 hour and its free, on basic cable you can watch it live for free...
I've been pretty turned off by PPV since 2008........ I now pick and choose carefully, etc.... MR.BILL:hat:bbb:deal
For the big fights I go to the movie theater, though for the life of me I don't understand groups of 3 or 4 people showing up to watch the fight though. Just split the cost of the PPV and stay home, **** it costs less since the cost of soda and popcorn is an arm and a leg.
