Boxing lost out big time last night!

the only reason Pac "won" the other fights was to keep alive the fight with floyd, its the business of the sport that made us lose out.

 

Marquez gets the glory Floyd should have got if just let his ego to take a side step.

 

I've always said it that Floyd would win UD against Manny and I am sure we all know that.

I am glad the superfight didn't happen.

Both lost out on huge money and the biggest fight in boxing due to greed.

Deserves them right.

I haven't been excited for Floyd v Manny since 2010.

 

Manny v Floyd was a fight that should have been made years ago when both were in their primes with a rematch clause that would have made both absolute fortunes.

That ship has now sailed one of those fights people will talk about in years to come of biggest fights that never happened.

The best thing to come out of last night Marquez rightly gets his redemption you can only guess how he must of felt these last few years after being on the back of some rank bad decisions against Manny.

He said beforehand he wouldn't leave it in the hands of the judges classic highlight reel k.o.

 

No. If anything, boxing was saved last night.

People will finally let go of Mayweather - Pacquiao now that this happened. That fight was never going to happen and even if it did, the fight itself would never have matched fan anticipation. In a sense, the sport has been held hostage by this saga for years now. Is it happening or not? We've been asking it for years and boxing's reputation has been damaged by the fact it wasn't being made. Finally, we can now all move on and the sport can start a new chapter, and new rivalries and match-ups can capture the imagination.

Boxing was a fantastic sport before Manny Pacquiao and now, seeing as he's more than likely done, it'll be a fantastic sport without him. Fighters come and go but the sport will always move on. Likewise for Mayweather.

Forget Mayweather- Pacquaio folks, time to start a turn over a new page in the boxing history.

 

It didn't lose out last night, it lost out 2/3 years ago when it should have been made. Any fight at this point would be heavily stacked in Mayweather's favour and that's a shame because Pacquiao when he was at his most fluid a couple of years ago would have been very difficult for Mayweather and would have given him the most competitive fight in his career.

I think potentially he could've beaten Mayweather at that juncture.

 

No, that is boxing, it will not be the last time it happens, and it is hardly the first (Lewis/Bowe in the pros, Tyson/Bowe, Jones vs Benn and/or Eubank, Norris/Trinidad, Trinidad/Quartey, Nelson/Naseem, Naseem/Morales, and that is such the 90s off my head).

Boxing will get over it.

Boxing won big time last night. Two great and fearless boxers fought their best, and Marquez won the contest with a moment of pure skill.

 

The two best fighters in the world facing each other, for the 4th time.... and you're moaning that boxing lost out?

Floyd didn't fancy it back in 2010 when Manny was at his absolute best, and now he's clearly on the slide there's still been more whining about purse splits, testing and other bollocks.

Stick to fighting bums like Victor Ortiz, and leave the real fighters to it :deal
