Both guys were playing Russian Roulette last night-and Pacman lost.It very easily could have been the other way around.
I wanted him to retire last night but did say my feeling may change and they have. I think any living future ATG fighter like him shouldn't retire like that. It would be unsatisfying. Even Hatton, who is nowhere near the level of Pac and Mayweather, couldn't stomach bowing out on a loss and had to try once more. My judgement is also reflected by the way the fight panned out. Both guys hit the deck and there was one moment I don't see many people remembering or talking about where in one of the rounds Juan walked on to a punch and his legs wobbled which sent him reeling back. So, this was a fight where one or the other was going to get knocked out! That's not to say that the knockout won't have damaged Pac because it definitely has. I know it. Whether psychologically, physically or both. A fighter losing on the scorecards and then following that up with a KO loss never really has a great prognosis.
That fight could have gone either way if marq didn't eat the ko. PAC was roughing him up real nice before that knockout. I thought PAC definitely had the aggression he promised he just got wreck less against a top notch counter puncher. If he can get over knockout loss I expect him vs rios to make up for it.
Did someone say that Pacquiao can't hang anymore? You do know that he was outstyling Marquez, and even knocked him down in that fight? I won't comment on wether or not he should retire, but it's not like he can't handle Marquez because he got caught and put out cold. He was fighting great before it and you can't imagine lightening to strike twice.
Why is it when a fighter loses he needs to retire immediately? Are you guys in general ******ed? He was doing great in this fight, looked the best in years and was caught. As far as I remember he had Marquez hurt badly, dropped and ready to be finished only to run into a clean shot. What happened was BOXING, nothing out of the ordinary really though shocking because it's Pacquiao. He still has a great shot in a 5th fight, he's hardly done with.
Exactly. He was dominating that fight despite the knockdown and had Marquez cut, nose broken and in serious danger all the way till he got reckless and caught cold. He hardly looked finished in this fight.
Marquez is better than Pacquiao but who has the better resume overall? Aside from the Pacquiao win(s), Marquez's CV is fairly average.
I will admit I agree Pac looked the best in a long time I was suprised how much success he was having in landing BUT if he retires I wont be surprised...The fight could have gone either way and that KO has finished pac for good imo
ohh yea pacquiao is past his prime (age 33) and marquez is a young boy in his prime ( age 39) I hate butthurt *******s!! :fire:fire:fire:fire
I can admit, Pacquiao was dominating Marquez in my eyes before the KO. After the KD it looked like he got pissed and took it to Marquez. I'm actually of the opinion that if that KD didn't happen, he would have boxed better and probably got another victory. He got agressive after, and was caught. With that said, I don't think he's done... but he needs a long time to recover and think about what he wants to do. It's concievable he could rematch Marquez and win, even by KO. It's all up to him.
Well in this case lets see... Has looked medicore in his last 4 fights. Yes, including this one. He scored a knockdown, but also got dropped cleanly in the 3rd and his body language looked off. Just because a recent performance may have been better than a previous performance doesnt mean that a fighter still has it. Is a political figure in the Phillipnies Also is a part time actor/singer Has had many wars, which evdently are taking their toll His trainer , while a HOF'er (so respect there) clearly has lost his touch and Not too mention he just got the KTFO in which he had to be awaken with SMELLING SALTS I think its obvious he needs to retire or at the most have one more farewell fight for the fans against someone who more than likely wont hurt him. I mean come on, he has damn near 70 professional fights and has been fighting since his teens. But i get it, yall wont be satisifeied until he can barely speak than he can retire, smh! Fans can really be selfish...
