This is not meant to deride Junior at all, I just feel people should be more balanced in their views, and look at facts rather than hugging!

In terms of the Hatton fight, Junior hasn't exactly helped himself by sniping constantly - he should have beaten some top ranked opponents and made himself a proper draw. Ricky Hatton has marketed himself very well, and thus, is the most popular fighter in the country without question.

If Witter beats Torres and AN Other, and Hatton still doesn't fight, then he is ducking, but to accuse him of it now is ridiculous, bearing in mind he stepped up to face Floyd Mayweather!

 

Witter has more 1punch power than Hatton, Hatton throws more shots. Witter did what Cotto couldn't and put Ndou down 2times (or was it more I forget), Witter floored Ndou with 1shot. He ko'd Harris with 1shot. He beat Lauri faster than Hatton.

As for facing top competition he has beat 2 future champs (Ndou and Kotelnik) and 2 past champs (Harris and Corley). Those are all top10 opponents

 

There is a report on the times website saying they are looking at Torres or Braldey in June.

I reckon he should face both by the end of the year, one in June and another in September - October, then look to fight Rees in early 2009. If he has the WBA, WBO and IBF titles Hatton would have no choice but to face him.

 

This would be a cracking fight. Style-wise Torres is made for Witter.

Did he fight Witter or did he fight no name lightweight Rios? Did he fight Witter or did he fight super featherweight Denis Holbaek Pederson? What about Stephen Smith?
These were all pushover opponents and you can't claim they weren't. I'll give the benefit of the doubt to ancient Vince Phillips, Ben "I haven't won a single round out of twenty four in my last two fights" Tackie, or a shot to bits Ray Oliveira as they at least had a name and a rank.
Hatton's ducking of Witter is criminal.
Oh and Witter clearly hits a lot harder than Hatton. You mention Lauri, I don't recall Hatton dropping him but I do recall a ridiculously, it'll look good on the record type premature stoppage.

 

Not true. Jose Luis Juarez dropped N'dou twice. The first knockdown was so devastating it made one of those Best Damn Beatdown specials on FSN.

But anyway, Witter clearly cracks harder than Hatton, imo. And I expect him to have little, if any trouble with Torres. Witter by early KO.

 

No it wasn't a premature stoppage, Lauri was copping a beating.

Witter did put Lauri away quicker, and it was an excellent performance.

Great news .... Hopefully Hatton/Malignaggi will meet later this year too ... then if Witter beats Torres, we could be set for a huge Witter/Hatton clash in late 2008 or early 2009 ..
