Why did Primetime interview Marquez in Spanish after the fight and not English?

Im pretty sure his English is very basic.. ?! I've never heard him speak english other than the odd few words

 

Lot's of Mexicans speak English and pretend they can't. It's some weird point of pride to them.

 

I stand corrected. Pretty sure all interviews i've seen of him have been translated.. Which is odd.. if his english is that good.

Marquez feels more comfortable answering in Spanish. Lets be honest, if you had the choice to answer in your 1st or 2nd tongue, what would you answer in?

Like Craney said, if the fighter has to translate himself into English then we maybe arn't hearing from the horses mouth any more than we would be if he gave his own words in Spanish and then got translated?

**** knows, but at the post fight press conference the interpreter was woeful. He kept misquoting Marquez and even took liberties, adding all this praise to Bob Arum that Marquez never even said.

The interpreter on HBO fights with glasses is the best one. He actually says what the fighters say, accurately.:deal
