Joe Louis is among my 3 favorite HW's....alll Joe's....Frazier, Walcott, Louis...But I am not sure why it would be among the best victories in a rematch? It had been a full year since Schmeling had fought at all and two years since they first fought. He was 33 and had already logged 60 fights, and was IMHO on the downside of his career, and believe an argument could be made that he was post prime even in the first encounter.

I might call it the most decisive, but probably not the single best re-match victory....certainly not in an end thread worthy fashion.

With Patterson - Johannson a not-too-distant second also considering that an
ex-HW champ had NEVER regained his title.

Along with Louis-Schmeling II, this is the most dramatic example.
