He was OK, but far too small to make it as a Heavy. I went to the Waters fight (it was meant to be McKenzie/Sot:twisted: topping), and he looked ordinary against a very average opponent. From a boxing point of view he should of tried to boil down to 190, and having a victory over Wamba could of meant he may of been a threat there. But at Heavy his stablemates Mason and Bruno would of beaten him comfortably IMO.
I remember him. He was pretty good at British level, but if I remember correctly he wasn't huge, and I believe he was forced to retire with some kind of injury. My main memory of him was his last fight with Hughroy Curry. Somebody in the crowd kept on shouting "Put him to sleeep Horace, put him to sleeep!"
the fight that sticks in my mind is the one with proud kiliminjaro a huge african fighter. curry was a quite talented fighter but lacked a bit of dedication. notice was a fighter who would give everything and it was a shame for himself he had to retire before he could fufill his dreams and make a bit of money.

My pops saw him a lot and he was his favourite domestic heavyweight. He took me to his fight with Hughroy Currie as a 9 year old. The ole man gave me a programme of one of his fights in '86 at the Albert Hall. On the undercard was a young Michael Watson, Tony Laing and Clinton Mckenzie.
Although he did fight on Sportsnight, (Notice/Waters), Notice tended to be a Midweek Sport Special fighter.
