Pity about the cut. It looked fairly deep as well, will take a while to heal up. Byrne v McCloskey would be great to see. Can't see many Irish fans cheering on McCloskey in that fight.

So the Cork show is cancelled. Its a tough job trying to put on a promotion but these postponements are giving boxing in Ireland a bad name.

Looks like matchmaker Mickey Helliet isnt too impressed by it and isnt buys the injured ribs line.

"Some people shouldn't be given promoters licenses. Two of my fighters are going without Xmas money because of the show that just got cancelled in Cork this weekend. It was a totally disorganised mess from the start!

People think promoting shows means automatically earning an easy fortune.

These jokers ought to hang their heads with shame. I could not count the number of times where I have known I'm on to a loser from well in advance of the show date but taken the loss because I knew my fighters & trainers had worked their asses off in the gym preparing so I just took the hit.

There are some good people in boxing, but unfortunately there are some proper clowns too!

I chased these guys for 2 weeks to send a contract, even from Mexico! They originally sent it to the wrong email address despite the fact that I had TEXTED the EXACT email address to them. Also the fact that they sent it so late & hadnbooked any flights leads me to think they haven't got a clue how to run an event. The main fight we were taking was for fairly small money for a 10 round fight. I hope the fight gets re-made by a proper promoter & my guy batters the his opponent. If there's any justice in this world it will happen. GOD, give me a sign dude, give me a sign!

Jesus I am proper fuming! If the fighters have misrepresentented their ticket sales or been dishonest, that is one thing but to promote in such a shabby way is disgusting, some body pass me an elephant gun!"

Doesnt sound good. I know Mickey said to me that he would never work in Ireland again after a couple of "her who shall not be named for fear of being threatened with the law"'s shows were postponed.

White collar boxing shows pull bigger crowds than the pro shows in Republic.

Like anything in Ireland, we only turn up when the event is deemed top class

    Thats just the reality.

I don't understand why Waren doesn't have a show in Dublin.

    Byrne v Gavin
    Ormond v Andy Murray
    Spike v Coyle

That's a quality night's viewing on Boxnation right there.

Edit: Lol fw-ank is censored now. Pathetic.

Bit of stick going around about cork show being cancelled because of poor ticket sales but seen first hand spike in serious pain with his ribs and all I ever heard was how well tickets wer going . I had 70 tickets sold and Stephen Karl and Timsy had all there tickets sold aswel so suprised if it was down to poor ticket sales and hope that wasn't the reason! A lot of lads depending on that money coming up to Xmas so very disheartening. Just have to keep working hard until Feb and hopefully show is success and promotor can build on it!

Don't wanna **** on the Dean Byrne parade here, as he is a sound lad; but he may have trouble finding opponents. His record up to the Jones fight was poor and now that he has got a draw (unlucky not to win) he is the epitome of "high risk-low reward" fighter, sadly.

Hopefully he gets thrown in with Haughian for Irish Title- but thats doubtful as Stephen was intent on fighting stiffs and wouldn't defend against O'Brien in the past ffs :patsch

Lost a close fight against O'donnell- again with no title on the line :deal

Can't say I agree with your opinion on this [ I know it's the new fad on ESB particularly in the Brit forum to be disrespectful or bad mouth McCloskey] as I can assure you that if McCloskey and Byrne boxed in Belfast, the Belfast and Derry crowd would be supporting McCloskey in a heart beat.

Bad luck Luke I'm gutted for you, I hope things turn around for you. Is there any chance you could get on a Belfast bill? There's two shows coming up in the new year.
