And less and less counterpunchers and boxer type. Gonna be one hell of a era.

At least a decent fraction of these fighters have reasons for those style, their movement sometimes is just their incredible defense.

    SO what?

If you have the skills to pull it off, like Ali, RJJ, Floyd, Vitali, etc, then it is a way to save a lot of energy.

Also, (again, if you can pull it off) it gives you a big offensive advantage, because it's much harder to see a punch coming from the "low arm" position.

Of course, then you have the Amir Kahns of the world, who simply DON'T have the skills to pull it off. I blame that on massively over-hyped trainers, who should know better and do something about it.

No such thing as having "no defense" unless you have no arms and have a spinal condition which leaves you unable to move your waist at all. Hate that term.

This era shows a general downgrade in skill from past ones, yes, but I always laugh when posters ridicule offensive fighters for taking risks they have to in order to win. Being a consistent offensive fighter takes plenty of skill. Looking good and being good are two different things.

even if that is the case what exactly are you doing pillz? It is easier to comment and judge then to actual lace them up and go through that type of punishment.

is there something particularly wrong with that?

You realize pushing for the opposite of that would effectively erase the level of excitement this sport creates?

I understand you have a strong opinion on fighters should be boxing purists, but if the sport was an extremist like yourself, it would lose its luster and its dynamic quality...

Diversity of style is what makes boxing so compelling, once you realize this fact, you would find a bit more inner peace and stop making such stupid threads about your extremist views

I doubt you can find one division which 90% of boxers fight with their hands down let alone say it about the sport as a whole.

You're probably also a guy who thinks Duran had no defence either and Hagler was a full time brawler and not a counter-puncher.
