I don't see Donaire losing any time soon

Donaire would beat Rigo, Frampton will KO Donaire in 2014.

 

Donaire,rigo and mares need to stop being scared and move to the official featherweight divison where the real competition is with guys like Chris John,Daniel Ponce De Leon,Nicholas Walters,Celestino Caballero,Jhonny Gonzalez,Billy Dib,Juan Carlos Burgos,Javier Fortuna,Mikey Garcia,Orlando Salido,Juan Manuel Lopez and Gary Russell jr.

 

you guys are overrating him. yes he is good but can be beaten. I don't have exact scorecards but i remember having the Vasquez and mathebula fight very close. Donaires weakness is obvious. It is the jab. he has been outjabbed by lesser fighters. There is a couple of guys at 122 that have shown they can use that jab. Moreno and Mares. as much hate as Mares gets he shows a will to win every fight. He has shown us he can take advantage of an opponents weakness and stick to a gameplan.

Moreno can outbox Donaire and Mares can come up with a gameplan and walk through hell to get him. Lets not forget who Donaire fought this year...

SBW champ Mares still hasn't beat a top 10 super bantam. He won his belt at a catchweight vs #10 ranked bantam.

As someone already mentioned, he struggled with Mathebula. If the guy had more pop he might've KOed Donaire that day since he was landing some clean, hard shots consistently. WV2 busted Donaire's face up in a losing effort. My list of fighters who can beat Donaire:

Mares (has to fight smart, which I think he will)
Moreno
Rigo
GRJ (ND has to move up but I doubt he will challenge Gary)
Santa Cruz (if he keeps improving and eventually moves up)

 

If Paulie had more power, he'd have beaten Cotto. You realize Mathebula is a giant awkward sbw? He didn't come close to winning, unlike against p4p rated Caballero in Panama, another giant.

You'll get really good adds on Mares, Rigo, Moreno, SC vs Donaire, 3/1 underdog or wider. So lets hope the fights get made, and you're in the money.

I used to think Santa Cruz could be trouble for Donaire till I saw his fight yesterday. Did you miss it?

 

Keep cherry picking like pac & stay away from Rigo/Mares & he should be fine.

 

Nonito beats the number 1 guy in division, albeit him having some inactivity, Nonito dominates him and makes him look like a nobody - then afterwards he is a handpicked opponent by everyone, and is shot. I get sick of boxing fans on this forum and their hindsight judgments based on another persons domination. Nonito has RJJ aura, and some of the fighters become too wary of his power and speed, when they don't they get messed up often. Mares, if he fights intelligently, makes a great fight, but he loses as I don't think he can absorb too many shots from Nonito, he was hurt by fighters of much lesser power in the past, although he has taken what came to him in more recent fights. Rigo has all the skills in the world, and could out box him, but Rigo has a glass jaw. Moreno or whatever his name is, has skills and Mares foul filled win does not take away this fact. However, Moreno will not be able to avoid all of Nonito's shots and lets not act like Nonito is some crude puncher, he is a boxer/counterpuncher with big power. I imagine that fight being boring, just like the Rigo fight until he gets KO'd from the first meaningful shot Nonito lands. Mares on the other hand could turn out to be a great fight, action packed, and have some drama involved. I'd rather see that or Rigo vs Mares.

 

Nonito's fights with Vasquez and Mathebula were not close bro, no matter what the score cards said, especially Vasquez. Sometimes the scores are not an accurate picture of the fight, like Cotto vs Trout, or Pac vs Marquez 3. With that said, every fighter is a bit overrated, if Nonito is popping his jab and boxing, and letting the KO happen when it comes, he is a very impressive fighter. In those two fights you mentioned, he didn't do what made him a success. If he goes back to doing that then he is beatable, even though he clearly won those fights.

Moreno can outbox Nonito if he fights just looking for the KO extra and abandons his skill, yes - as can Rigo if he fights like that. However when he boxes he is very very impressive. The only fight I want to see is him vs Mares, that's it. Rigo has all the skills in the world, and he has fought no one. Mares has actually built a nice little resume, hype is good when a person actually proves it. Nonito has been proving his hype since 2007, so anyone doubting him now don't know **** about boxing. Nonito vs Mares, the two most proven fighters at that division. This is the fight that matters.

 

He gets credit for beating good competition but I think we all can agree Rigo and Mares would dominate Arce and Nishioka as well. We'll see what happens in '13. If Nonito doesn't fight these top guys then we have a problem. He'll look like a fraud. I don't it like when Donaire fans brag about him as if he's some sort of unbeatable killing machine. He is good but I see ways in which he can be beat. It's going to take someone talented and intelligent. A few of these guys do exist. If ND fights these guys and beats them, I will gladly call him an ATG.
