The less likely I think we see him vs Floyd. Even for a big $ fight I dont see him and oscar taking a risk. After seeing his face after trout vs cottoI think he goes back to fighting/bullying 140 pounders. In 2013. They are not gonna botch let him take that Mayweather Loss before putting him in other fights.

You're crazy. It's the perfect opportunity for him.

Mayweather is fading as he gets older. His legs clearly are not what they used to be, and Canelo is young enough to recover from a loss.

It is very unlikely that Mayweather will lay Canelo out, so at worst, Canelo loses a decision.

But it will still be competitive because Floyd will have to work very hard to win rounds.

    This is a great fight.

Aside from Martinez, the guys that have the best chance to beat Mayweather are Angulo, Trout, and Canelo.

I'd put Angulo at the top because he doesn't care if Mayweather hits him. It doesn't matter. It won't do ****, and Angulo will beat him until he falls.

Canelo though, is more hesitant, but he's also more skilled, throws in combination, and he has SIZE.

He has a good shot. I'd say 50/50.

Then Trout has a good shot at ouboxing Mayweather. Maybe it's Trout that actually has the best chance, but a fight with Angulo would be the most brutal.

    Angulo would probably ruin Floyd.

Trout could potentially catch Floyd coming in because in all likelyhood, Floyd would have to be aggressive, but more than likely, Trout would be content at just staying on the outside and pecking away at Mayweather for a decision, unless they rob him.

Im not doubting that it would be a fun fight. Im just saying that a fight with floyd doesnt sound like something canelo would do. He hasnt really signed onto a risky tough fight with the exception of PWill. This guy is avoiding basic opposition at 147 and 154 and fighting guys coming of losses what makes us think hes gonna step it up? I just dont see it.

Honestly, there is no more risk with Floyd than with Trout.

Trout is Canelo's toughest opposition, not Floyd.

Floyd is more skilled, but at this point it's about size.

A fighter can only go up so far in weight before guys his size that aren't necessarily PFP can make him look normal.

Skills can be negated with size.

That's why there are weight classes.

Angulo is a murderous puncher but I think your nuts if you think hed be fast enough to do damage to floyd. Angulo would have a connect percentage around 5 percent.

At this stage the "Mayweather" fight is a rite of passage for Alvarez.
Just like "De La Hoya" was Floyd's fight...
& the "Chavez & Whitaker" fights were for Oscar. Ect....

He don't got to be fast. He just has to get Floyd in the corner.

    He will.

I've never seen any Angulo fight where is opponent didn't get trapped.

Joel Julio moves around the ring as good as anyone and throws some powerful shots, yet, he continuously got trapped in the corner until he went down.

Floyd doesn't have that type of power, and his legs are gone.

Floyd may block most of the shots, but it doesn't matter. Eventually Angulo will wear him down, break him, and stop him.

It's the worst fight for Floyd.

Also as far as the Canelo fight is concerned, if Canelo loses to Trout, say goodbye to a Mayweather fight.

Mayweather is the best option at this point.

I've pondered the same thing, but I think they view Floyd as the least damaging loss he could take as far his marketability and they obviously stand to pull in a great deal of money off it. You'd think they would want to hold this one off with the hopes that when it happens, Canelo would take Floyd out in spectacular fashion. Maybe they feel he already can (doubt it, honestly). Perhaps they're relationship with Floyd (and Haymon) is such that Floyd can get any GBP fighter he wants, whenever. The funny thing is that most of Mayweather's detractors have sworn this is a fight he would avoid.

Do you think there is a possibility that the oldster (FMJ) boxes circles around the youngster (Alvarez) for a rout similar to Martinez vs Chavez Jr?

I can picture people slobbering at the mouth in hopes that somebody will beat Floyd. First, I don't think it's in Floyds plans to actively campaign at 154 because of the weight and size issues. He fought Cotto because Cotto is basically a WW. Mayweather is not dumb gentlemen. As much as some would like to see him get knocked out, don't hold your breath.:bbb

Im one of the biggest floyd fans around and I dont think he would ever duck a canelo the only fighter I truly believe he ducked was PWill whether it was physical or monetary.

Angulo is way too slow for Floyd. While I don't think Floyd would be able to hurt him, it would be an easy UD.
