Mick Hennessy: "Tyson Doesn't Want Maloney Involved In Price Deal"

Can't keep using that as an excuse. Fury may want to fight Price but I honestly believe Hennessy wants NONE of Price. In my opinion he's flat out scared that Price will wipe Fury out and ruin his cash cow.

Who knows if that would even be the case if Price and Fury do fight, I honestly believe that's what Hennessy thinks though. He can keep slagging Price off and saying he's not good enough to fight Tyson all day, we all know what he really means. It's clear as day that HE is the one stopping the fight happening and HE is the one who's the chicken.

The fighters want it, the promoters IMO don't. (Maloney can spout his figures, don't believe him..)

Mick sees a world title fight for Fury and a chance to win belt and defend it and really earn from it. He sees the long term which i respect, but we want to see this fight but can half accept some of his points but still wanna see the fight and think Fury will demand it sooner rather then later.

I thought Hennessey made a lot of sense there.

He's right, why should Tyson accept a lesser split (40%) when Price has a title he already vacated, he's close to a world title shot and he holds better wins than Price.

I would say this fight SHOULD be 50/50 but if anyone has the more bargaining power it's Fury.

 

I think it's wrong when someone says "Fury is a coward" or "Price is ducking Fury". I have no doubts at all that if the fight was signed for summer 2013, even for minimal amounts of money, both fighters would jump at the chance. The problem is, neither promoter is willing to risk their golden goose getting beat. The fight will only happen when both are at the top of their earning potential, which will likely be when it's for a world title.

 

They should just pick a stadium, get a good deal TV sorted, split the money down the middle and arrange the fight for next summer.

They'll both make a tidy sum before one of their cash cows get flattened.

It's not a difficult situation to understand really: Fury is very close to becoming the WBC champion, why on Earth would he risk all of this by taking a riskier fight at a lower level? He loses to Arreola/Stiverne then he says he lost at world level and he can still fight Price.

Its not like the fight will make that much money. It's not PPV and wouldn't sell out a footy stadium at the mo.

Tyson desn't need the fight. He is 1 maybe 2 fights away from a world title shot. Price would do nothing for him and it is an unnecessary risk. Both fighters want the fight but both promoters seem unsure. They keep talking about it but they both know the potential revenue if it is for a world title.

Yeah this. I was told by a fighter in his stable the other day hes verging on bankrupt. Not sure whats happening now mind as hes on this loaded channel now.:huh

 

By the time the fight actually happens this will probably be one of the most discussed potential fights in british boxing history. People have been going on about it for 18 months already and I can't see the fight happening any time soon.
