Kalle Sauerland: 'W. Klitschko - Povetkin likely headed for purse bid'

    Cliff notes:

    * "We have the WBA confirmation already available via email," confirmed promoter Kalle Sauerland.

    * That there will be a fight between Klitschko and Povetkin at the required 26th of February is not likely because the two parties will probably not agree without a purse bid.

    * "An agreement is probably not possible. We want to bring the purse bid and the fight with our sponsors to our TV station ARD," said Sauerland.

    * After a purse bid, which would take place one or two weeks after the WBA February deadline, the purse bid winner has another three months time to put the fight together.

    * Thus we're probably looking at late May, early June at the earliest

    Wlad will be ready to go by March. This is just another ploy by Sauerland. The fight will never be on ARD.

    What happens to Povetkin's WBA stupid "regular" title after the match? Does it get vacated?

    Probably vacated for the next interested to fight for. Povetkin and Chagaev fought for it a month after Wlad-Haye.

    It's technically a 'unification' I suppose. :lol: If Povetkin wins, he'll become WBA 'super' champion and IBF/IBO champ, thus taking all Wlad's titles. If he loses, I assume he loses his regular belt as well, thus they'll be no 'regular' champion and Wlad will still be 'super' champion.

    Of course, you never know with sanctioning bodies these days. That said, I doubt this fight happens anyway. Povetkin will never be ready for it and they know it, he's arguably worse than he was 4 or 5 years ago and he's in for a one-sided beating here.

    Most likely will happen. We'll know more end of Feb when the purse pid happens.

    No need to rush this kid. Povetkin is not ready yet. Give him some years to develop as better fighter.

    If the purse bid is concluded by the end of Jan and they have 3 months from then how the does Kalle get late May/June.......:think Would be April/ early May

    Purse bid 1-2 weeks after the February deadline = end of Feb/Beg. of March. March + 2-3 months (to organize the fight) = end of May/Beg of June.
