Maybe he will finally start to train seriously and stop the commentating job on TVA sport...

Right off the bat, I don't think he'll do much better in a division that's still pretty stacked with talented guys.

On the other hand, I'm giddy with the prospect of all the possible matchups and kinds of brawls we could see. He'll be a big powerful welterweight.
Thago Alves, Koscheck, Martin Kampman, Ellenberger, Hendricks...basically any guys with heavy hands.

I'm not so enthusiastic about possible matchups with skilled grapplers.

    Agree with post above.

He'll achieve little but with his rock solid chin and natural dig he'll be a fun addition to the ranks.

    Feed him Dan Hardy :yep

I have always been a fan of his, I hope he decides to add more to his game, he is kind of one dimensional.

GSP, Diaz, Condit, Hendricks, Ellenberg, Kampmann... the division is deep. He'll just make it deeper but from the bottom, not the top.

wonder if , contrary to rorymac he would want a fight against GSP
i dont think hes a regular at tristar, but he did train there on many occasions

Bit of a strange move as he is arguably moving in to possibly the toughest division in MMA (or 2nd). I don't think he will have a problem getting down to 170 but I just don't see how this move will benefit him as there is a boat load of high level grapplers @ 170 to expose his obvious flaws.

I wouldn't hold my breath for that. GSP and Cote had already been known to be friends/teammates in TUF 4 which was in 2006.
So their friendship goes even deeper.

Although, Rory's comments on the topic were never that solid. He's always said he doesn't want to fight GSP, but "we'll cross that bridge when we get there". Which kind of tells me, if his achievements elevate him to #1 contender with a title shot, endorsement contracts, more money than he could ever dream of and permanent MMA greatness - I don't see him turning it down.

he fought GSP for the title now so long ago
& he just called out Hendricks on twitter for a fight
he also fought ellenberger wich is ww

so he's not exclusive to mw
so you can stop that head scratching now
