Im down with Keith Thurman cause I think he got the potential to shine at 154. At 147 he will be draining himself in a year. He's only 23 and he weighed 160 on fight night with Quintana. He's 5'9" which is a good height for 154. Plus the division is full of good fighters.

 

BAD idea.

First, he's a natural LMW.
Second, he's not quite fast enough for the best WW's out there.

If he can somehow lose his bad habits, tighten up he defense, I think he has a real shot at the LMW title, in maybe 2 years. - But somehow I think he won't improve enough. He seems very content where he is right now, skill-wise.

Yeah, that **** right there makes sense. I think he needs to sharpen his skills against sharper fighters, and mix it up with punchers ,boxers, counter punchers, leftys and rightys etc. Four stairstep fights and two really good tuneups inbetween should have him ready for the top tier in a couple of years.I hear him talking but I haven't seen him handle real adversity or solve a real problem in the ring.:bbb

I 'd need to see him step it up a bit before I am thoroughly sold. Canelo-Thurman in the fall would be a real treat.

i have a bit of buy-in for Thurman...
i dont think its fair to match him up against the top tier quite yet

After he eats up some B caliber opponents, im sure he'll be groomed up as a solid A caliber fighter

I think he will get down to welterweight when he's ready to step up. His destiny is Lt. Mid though, as his body matures and fills out.

 

There is no reason to be expecting Thurman to be fighting the top guys at 154 just yet.

Give him a chance to clean out the Welterweight division first.

 

Trout, Alvarez, Lara, Vanes and Thurman. What a terrific division. Martinez should vacate the MW title and campaign at 154 again.

im a believer. i do need to see a little more tho. would love to see thurman/angulo. i think its a good test for thurman. lets see how good ur defense is cuz u gunna need it an see if his chin is good enuff cuz it sure would get tested. i still would pick thurman to win he has alot more tools to pull out then angulo does. at this point of kirklands career i think thurman beats him as well. thurman beat k9 and lara. molina is a tough matchup for neone and that fight is a toss up u kno if they fight it would be close n go to the cards and it could be a draw.

who knows he mite even beat alvarez. its not like alvarez resume is all that impressive but however he is very young , an i think i would pick alvarez over thurman. trout vs thurman man thats a good one as well but i gotta go with trout

 

I think he really wants to campaign at 147 as he probably knows at 154 would be a tougher task for success.

I think he could pave a legacy at 147 and knock out guys there.

I dunno why but he reminds me of Pacquiao. I don't think he fights like Pacquiao but is laying ppl out.
