Can't name too many solid chinned guys who he's stopped, sure he can punch, but he's not a big puncher, if he was he would have had Holt out of there

 

Holt is not stupid or shot enough to be hit by that punch, i think Garcia has legit one punch knockout power but Khan and Morales helped him show it by gettin hit with them punches that no boxer should be gettin hit with

I'd agree with jack and bb on Garcia's power. Another reason I'd say no is theophane is very hard to catch clean.

 

Garcia is a good puncher, maybe not murderous, but he has some serious pop on his shots. Mainly because he follows through with his hooks and rotates the shoulder getting more weight on it. His hooks also come from the outside the line of sight, which is why Khan was getting caught by so many of them. Garcia also does one of the hardest things to do really well and that's punching with his opponent when they get close.

Garcia for the most part can't throw straight shots. His footwork is not the best either, which means he struggles with movement and fighters who control distance. If you follow Danny Garcia around or stay at mid range for his hooks, you're in trouble. Ashley Theophane actually laid the blueprint on how to beat him.

I think at this juncture he would perhaps stop Ashley late. Garcia is a confidence fighter. What i mean by that is if he's comfortable with what he's seeing and facing he performs better, one of the reasons he does better in rematches imo. He's also an improving fighter. Mentally he's grown a lot and he has a lot more swagger since he's become a belt holder.

I used to watch this kid on GBP undercards and FNF's and see nothing special. But he would show improvement from fight to fight. He's not the most talented guy but he's had good upbringing on the philly scene. From guys like Nazim Richardson.

What must be so hard for team Khan to swallow is, Khan could've won that fight with his jab alone and a simple 1, 2 follow up. Nothing fancy. Garcia wasn't ganna press the fight and carry Khan faster than he wanted to be carried. Because Garcia is not the same when he's coming forward. He would've let Khan fight at his pace and got discouraged as the fight went on. Oh well.

 

Last time out Danny looked like a guy finally settling in and looking comfortable in own skin. He's not biggest of punchers but he snaps those hooks and he's a strong guy who i think would KO Ashley in a rematch.

 

Good analysis mate. That's why I feel Richard Abril would comfortably beat Garcia, Abril isn't a combination puncher, making it hard for Garcia to catch him with a left hook in exchanges.

If Abril sticks to the jab and keeps his right hand up, he would beat Garcia on points IMO.
