Povetkin's stock fell significantly

After the Huck fight. I get that Povetkin was keen on cashing in on as many fights as possible before fighting a Klitschko. The thing is that he couldn't look weak on his way up. His wins over Chambers, Byrd, and Chagaev are great. He has the best resume of any HW in a long time and really should have just cashed in after the Chagaev match.

Everyone saw the Huck fight and now seriously doubts Povetkin. The fight will still sell, but it's not the same as before. It's weird because people complain now that people take the easy route and jump right into the Klitschkos. Povetkin is one of the few guys that did the opposite and is paying the price. You just won't see him get the same pay day and attention he would have gotten had he just beaten Chagaev.

For Wlad's resume it won't look as great too even though I think resume wise a win over Povetkin is better than a win over Haye any day of the week. I'm not saying Povetkin is better than Haye, but his resume certainly is. I don't blame Wlad, he wanted the fight years back and Povetkin ran away from the opportunity.

 

Why wouldn't he? The fight would sell well in Russia and Germany. After the Germans watched the Huck fight I don't think there is the same level of anticipation.

Maybe if Povetkin was a good seller, but I doubt that. When I watched Haye struggle with Valuev I changed my mind entirely about him. He is a bad fighter against big towering guys. I believe Chisora is better style wise against tall guys than Haye is. Haye was a good marketer and was able to make people forget about it, but I really doubt Povetkin has that ability.

Haye is good at selling a fight but he's also aided by the English media. Being British and also being a good marketer is maybe the best combination ever. I still think it's funny that Haye is able to sell this Vitali fight. He barely pulled of a win with a tall guy that is maybe one of the slowest in the world. How does he pull it off with a guy who is extremely fast at his height? Just because he's 41? But that's Haye's good marketing point. Vitali's too old now! Really? Vitali is slower than Valuev now?

 

Why did he have stock anyway?he is terrible

 

He won the gold medal and has beaten Byrd, Chagaev, and Chambers. Byrd was a #1 guy besides the Klitschkos for a long time. Chagaev has beaten Valuev and other top HW guys. Chambers has beaten top guys that were available and is generally ducked by most top HW boxers.
