Jim Lampley is an idiot!!!

I like Mauro Ranallo. The three of them, Bernstein, Malignaggi, and Ranallo make a good team IMO.

.....only problem with Lampley's descripition of Pacquiao's left's on Bradley was that most of them were not finding the target. :nut

In many many circumstances Lampley's depictions are not mistakes, a punch missed is depicted as a punch landed on purpose, with the clear intent to give credit to the fighter they (HBO) has an interest in.

 

He can be extremely biased and stupid at times. I know everyone has their favorites but as a commentator he's not supposed to bring his own personal likes and dislikes into his commentating.

He makes it obvious that Pacquiao is his favorite fighter and it's also obvious he hates Mayweather. I remember when Mayweather hits Dela Hoya and turns away, Jim implied that Mayweather was hitting and running. But when Pacquiao does the exact same thing against Marquez in their 3rd fight, Jim starts screaming "OMG DID YOU SEE WHAT PACQUIAO JUST DID IT WAS AMAZING!!! HE HIT MARQUEZ AND MOVED SO THAT MARQUEZ CAN'T POSSIBLY TOUCH HIM!!!!"

Mayweather beats Hatton, he doesn't say much. Pacquiao beats Hatton, he starts screaming "IS THERE ANY DOUBT HE IS THE BEST FIGHTER IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!"

Lampley consistently calls missed-shots as landed, and he loves to say a fighter is "badly wobbled" and the like, when he actually took one shot then came right back with hard flurries.

Lampley is dead-wrong more often than he's right. A complete fool.

Great voice & energy, though.

Paulie M is currently the best commentator in boxing.

 

Lampley is one of the besy, no doubt about it.

But personally I like Dave Bontempo and Bob Sheridan better.

 

Speaking only for his objective skill and without getting into his obvious bias, he does tend to be the most accurate and quick of the blow by blow guys.

 

Sure he has said some stupid things over the years, but so have I, thank god millions didn't hear it..

but overall I like him as a commentator...

 

He is obviously a huge fan of the sport... Can you imagine sitting ringside watching all those great fighters, and calling all the great fights over the years and not getting caught up in the drama from time to time??

It shows he is human, and not some robot with no emotion calling off everything..even if he is biased at times, i think he does a great job..

 

Lampley is ****, just like screaming "nuts n guts" Gus.

 

He knows boxing. Trust me.
