Sergio Maravilla Martinez outclassing Gabriel Campillo in sparring

    .......... but on the other hand Lucas Matthysse almost dominated Martinez into a sparring session :

    I make nothing of sparring sessions.

    1. One can be in greater shape than the other
    2. They could be practicing certain techniques, so one may end up looking 'dominated'.

    I know that are just sparrings and not some official boxing matches :patsch and they could practice / work on certain things - punches and techniques but come on, Matthysse is a tough mofo and he looks that he has a very good chin and good power in his hands.

    Martinez hit him with some good straight lefts and Lucas didn't even flinch. I'm not saying that Lucas would beat Martinez into a real match or that Martinez would beat into a real match a LHW ( Campillo ) who schooled Cloud (but he got robbed) , not at all but these sparrings can give us an idea about why some certain fighters are top class fighters / what attributes they have.:yep

    no , the sparring with Campillo is old and the sparring with Matthysse I think is from this year or the last year but thats not the main point :yep

    The Matthysse footage is also at least a year and a half old, as Matthysse left that gym after the Alexander fight and still has long hair in the video.

    2008...should have read the post above my question. It's just a spar, but with each of the videos Martinez is working on range and timing for countering. But with that said you can see Martinez's speed and style give people problems. But again...it's just a spar.. getting quality work in.

    Sparring means nothing at all.

    They could be at any stage of camp, or not even in camp. For all we know, one of them is just ticking over inbetween fights and the other is 10 days away from a career defining fight. It means nothing.

    first of all, thanks for sharing, this was very enjoyable to watch
    I think the sparring cession with Campillo was meant to work specifically on slipping the jab and countering, the cession with Matthysse was meant to work on defense in close quarters and pressure, just my opinion
