Unlucky? It was VERY lucky, for Vitali. :fire ------------- I of course agree with you. Right after the fight I made many posts, complaining on how Vitali obviously thumbed Charr on purpose, then had his paid-for ring doctor get him out of trouble. Charr was of course somewhat outclassed by Vitali, skill-wise, but he came into the ring in great shape, and with a very smart plan: Use the turtle defense, pot-shot once in a while, and wait for the later rounds when the aging Vitlai would surely slow down & make mistakes. Not all that different from JMM's approach against Pac. And Charr was actually dictating most of that fight, moving Vitali backwards. Charr also landed several VERY decent head-shots in rounds 3 & 4. They didn't cause any damage, but they did connect. He was getting Vitali's timing down. Vitali, on the other hand, landed virtually NO meaningful punches on Charr. Charr blocked or ducked every one. (his head movement was shockingly good.) He wasn't cut by a punch, but by several very obvious, purposeful (illegal) thumbs. Is Charr at Vitali's level? No, of course not, but he had a real chance in that fight. Vitali cheated his way out of trouble, and we all got robbed. I'd love to see Charr work his way back up to the top now. He showed surprising hand speed against both Vitali & Airich, & he certainly has power. I think he has the goods to give Price, Fury, etc a very tough battle. We could easily see another 8 years of "prime" fighting from Marvelous Manuel.

I stand by every word, Chef. Of course, you'll have a different perspective on it, that's fine with me. - But I lost all respect for Vitali, a fighter I really admired, after the Charr fight. I'm not going to back-pedal just because you are now posting on this thread. (No disrespect to you, of course. Glad to get your perspective, if you choose to post it.) I wish Vitali well in politics, it seems like he's trying to make a difference in the Ukraine, and his heart is in the right place. The world needs more leaders like him. Sad that his legacy was tainted by what was hopefully his last fight.
Are you kidding? I mean Charr throws such slow, predictable punches that he looks like he's swimming...... I'd be all for a rematch is the previous fight was close but it wasn't, end of.
