Its interesting that the only rounds all 3 judges agreed on were 5th & the 11th. I had it 116-112 Cunningham & felt I was being a little to generous to Adamek. Not the worst robbery Ive ever seen but a really bad call by the judges, all because Adamek generates more $ than Cunningham.
Very close fight.Roach,in fact, stated on air that whoever wins the final round wins the fight.Perhaps being at ringside "live" gave you a different perspective.
No, not just the fans, but there's where it should start. What I mean is that after a robbery it will be dimissed by the nation's fans of not a problem of their country... while it most certainly is! I read it here time and time again. "Yeah it was a bad score, but the fight could have gone either way and (miraculously) it went the way of the home/poplular fighter". "It only happens in Texas". "blah, blah, blah over there!". After that, pressure can start from the fans toward the commisions, where incompetence and corruption are ripe. Not always enough... Just watch Matinez vs Cintron, a KO to get a draw out of it.
As I said in another thread I like Steve Cunningham a whole heckuvalot as a person but he did not get robbed yesterday. It was a close fight which he wound up losing because he refused to consistently assert his will upon the other fighter. He spent considerable amounts of time throughout the fight backpedaling and/or running. As soon as things began to get a little feisty he sought to clinch. It's very difficult to win a fight employing these tactics. Steve fought in spurts and didn't WANT the fight. Once the 12th and final round came by I said to myself we'll see who really wants this fight. Steve showed no sense of urgency and was content to continue doing what he had been doing in the previous rounds. I've always believed that in the final round of a fight which will most likely be left in the hands of the judges you go out there with guns blazing and you try to leave an impression on the judges. This was not the case so I can see how USS did not get the nod. It's a pity because although he didn't beat Adamek he should've defeated him. P.S. An old boxing adage says "you can't win a fight backing up." Steve learned this yesterday.
I agree with Chambers. Also i don't for a second believe the judges are incompetent, I think they are corrupt. What's worse is these boxers who receive these gift decisions have no integrity either, This isn't the first time Adamek has been the benefit of outrageous score cards IMHO. Lastly it really irks me when a subpar boxer who is unable to effectively cut off the ring and use his strength to his advantage accuse his opponent of running. I repeat boxing is the art of hitting and not getting hit FFS!!!!!!!! Learn your craft properly and then you won't have an issue finding your opponent Adamek!!!!!!!!!
Adamek might feel safer in NJ (or in the US) since Poland is the only place where the local boxer gets robbed. I think it was Roy Jones last fight. Glazewski's the name or something like that.
Actually, I think in this case Americans, including Eddie Chambers, are loudly proclaiming that Cunningham was robbed.
Well everyone knows that if you want fair judging for the away guy you need to go straight to Poland.
Well if that's the case then how the hell is Mayweather undefeated? Cunningham outboxed Adamek yesterday, it wasn't even close. All this backing up crap is a bull**** excuse that is used by people. That's the art of boxing and Cunningham executed his gameplan perfectly yesterday. Why should someone win a round simply by coming forward and not even being effective with it? It's all bull****.
Yes they are... But believe me, a month from now it would be viewed as an "incident" by those same fans, like time and time again. I've seen threads here of Americans (real fans that called upon all the big robberies that happened over there lately) dismissing the fact there's a problem in their country, pointing towards Germany and Canada. While if you take a look at those biggest robberies of late, most and worst happened over there.
