if all the heavyweights and light-heavyweights over the history of mma were all at their peak and fought over a period of say 2-3 years, who would end up being the top few fighters from each weight class? i say mma, but you could even include martial artists such as bill wallace, bruce lee, and chuck norris[or anyone else] in their peaks too, if you think they'd stand a chance.
JJ, but Fedor could also be a sure bet. Throw JDS in the mix too. To be honest, JJ would probably remain undefeated at LHW. With a 200lb and up division, I would bet on him and Fedor having a nice rivalry.
At this moment in time, yes... I believe so too. JJ and Fedor would give their all, but the human body can only take so much. I believe it would be wise for either man to retire soon after they beat a beast like JDS. But, we don't know what the future holds.... JJ is a very talented and gifted fighter. I believe we are seeing about 50% of his potential, and I stand by what I just said, so if he doesn't have any setbacks (major surgeries, KTFO, alcohol or drug abuse, $$$$ problems) then JJ is destined to be HW Champ. Six days before JDS v Velasquez II and I'm fairly confident that Cigano will solidify his status in our HW division. So, I believe the two are on a collision course. Daniel Cormier should be climbing The UFC ranks next year, and not in position for a "Super Fight" with JJ.... It's not what should be. But, you never know... We just don't know... Cormier could be fighting Brown Pride for UFC Gold, Velasquez v JDS III could be taking place next year and Cormier along with others will be put on stand by. But, I'm calling it now, The JJ v Anderson Silva Dream Match will formulate by this time next year.... Anderson Silva knows he can beat him, and will fight for it while he still has it. :thumbsup

Have Velasquez and Cormier agreed they will fight? they are under the same roof you know that right? dos Santos, he is a real handful, and can only get better, i do have a lot of love for Velasquez but i feel dos Santos has got his number, we will see! but i also believe Velasquez only needs that one single TD and then the pain begins, his top game and striking ability in that position is absolutely second to none, he's so agile and explosive its almost impossible to look for anything on the bottom other than self protection, his stand up is not too shabby either, dos Santos however is a long armed animal who can actually box to a very high standard, he's physically gifted, long reach which is difficult to negate, unbelievable movement, his range control is something to behold, and punch selection is near perfect, considering he doesnt throw kicks he has to be the most effective "one dimensional" champion in history Jon Jones - you and i have a diferent view on what this guy can achieve at HW, because without his wrestling im afraid he's done at that weight, and there's some pretty good wrestlers up there buddy! Can Jones dominate HW, IMHO NO! can he beat a good HW - YES! In short as long as JDS and Velasquez are up there i don't believe Jones will ever be a champion! and Cormier would probably dominate him (at this moment) as well, lets not put aside the fact Jones has absolutely no JJ, or well ill re-phrase that, in comparison to some top grapplers he's lacking (to put it mildly) which brings into play people like Werdum etc.
Interesting, I see JDS v Cormier being the most thrilling 5 minutes or so in Mixed Martial Arts history... JDS on the outside, tagging Cormier and landing bombs, backs him up against the cage, grinding on his opponent. Cormier, bloody and on wobbly legs, leaps in with a hook or overhand right and levels his opponent, punches JDS out, TKO. I believe Cain Velasquez could be the end of JJ. Whether it's Brown Pride or not, someone is going to grab one of those legs from the air, and put him on his seat. But, by then we will could be saying how shattered Velasquez' mandible is :!: I believe JJ will be pampered, especially if Anderson Silva losses and passes that torch. Fair enough, and sadly I believe nobody is going to test that submission defense again besides a fighter like Anderson Silva. Next year, JJ will be on his way out of the division. After Sonnen, if a Super Fight with Silva doesn't materalize, I see him making the transition to HW.
The fighters fighting in 2012 would beat the fighters in 2010. The fighters fighting in 2010 would beat the fighters in 2008. The fighters fighting in 2008 would beat the fighters in 2006. And so on and so on. Fedor had a freakishly long reign as champ, but his skills were years before everyone else's.
That's just a lot to consider. I don't think anyone is going to just win against everyone. Certain fighters are going to lose the battle of styles. For example, I think Dos Santos beats Fedor, but I believe Cro Cop takes Dos Santos. Let me break these down quickly: I believe Dos Santos can do to Fedor what Arlovski was doing, without getting walloped when going for a jump knee. I know, I know, Arlovski wasn't landing anything flush. 5 rounds of that would still lead to a lop sided decision if Fedor fails to land the knockout blow. Dos Santos defeated a 35 year old version of Cro Cop. I believe a younger Filipovic reaction time would make a big difference. For some match-ups, I feel it is important to clarify whether it is in a ring or a cage for Cro Cop. I don't think Cro Cop performs well in the cage. I don't think it matters for this fight.
