Tony Thompson Vs David Price - 23rd Feb

Been announced for a while now

 

Price KO inside 4. We've said already a million times, Thompson looks to be shot but he's still a step-up for Pricey compared to the likes of Matt Skelton and Fraudley. Hopefully David can blast him out like he has everyone else and move onto to bigger fights and bigger challenges.

Would love it if he went over to the States next year and fought someone like Wilder or Adamek. Or even Chisora over here in the UK, that would be good too. He needs a BIG win over a very well known opponent to help raise his profile internationally.

Just PLEASE GOD NO, don't let Maloney have him fight Sprott FFS.

Also unfortunately I also believe a fight with Sprott will happen in April/May...justified as Price has taken on a title a former title challenger and needs a fill in fight to keep busy also wining the lonsdale outright.

This is quality matchmaking. Thompson is perhaps past his best and beatable but is a tall, tricky southpaw and since 2000 has lost only to the best heavyweight in the world. He has beaten a host of fringe contenders and warrants ranking in the world top 10 based on results. An eminently credible opponent for Price.

 

Sprott is fighting for European belt early next year.

 

Definite step up for Price.

Thompson fought Wladimir just last July; ok he was knocked out in 6 but this gives our man something to aim for.

I would put Thompson on a par with Kingpin though.

Its good to see Price facing someone of a quality that his main rival is facing; Tyson has definitely fought the better opponents up until now so its good to see Price 'catch-up'.

Obviously Price should win, and I think if he he does it will be by knockout; hopefully before round six, maybe four or five.

Fighting Sprott afterwards (if he wins) is a step-back and will not be a good move; regardless of any belts concerned Price should stay away from any more british boxing heavyweight OAP's.
