Frank Bruno vs the new crop of Heavyweights? How would he fair?

Well, for a start he looks like a pro heavyweight boxer.

 

Of all the heavyweights active in 2012, I feel Wladimir Klitschko would probably beat him in a tough fight.
But Bruno would beat all the others.

And Bruno was no great fighter by any means.

 

I would say Bruno would defo be in the top 5 of the current crop.I think he would beat the likes of Adamek,Povetkin and Helenius.I do think he would come up short against either Klitschko though.

 

He'd be second behind Wlad I think.

Him vs Vitali at his best would be one hell of a battle, he'd execute all the others with ridiculous ease.

Only Pulev would have half a chance with him.

 

Good post I agree Pulev has a good chin and there's a chance Frank runs out of steam if Pulev puts him under pressure. The rest I think would fall, even Wlad may fall if Frank catches him right. That shot Frank cought Lewis on the side of the head with would have Wlad on his arse. (I'd still give Wlad an 80% chance of winning though)

 

How do you think haye would have handled frank?

 

I don't think he'd do too well. I'm not sure if he'd cope with Price or Fury, Haye would definitely have him in fits. Pulev and Povetkin, too good probably, both quicker than Bruno and hard punchers. Vitali, prime Vitali would cream any version of Bruno. Current Wlad, too heavy handed and hard to hit. Bruno's much vaunted jab is not as good as Wlad's. Bruno would be somewhere on the fringes of the top 10.

 

I think there is a bit too much 'blue sky thinking' of the Bomber here. Bruno was incredibly gifted physically, but when it came to fighting primed world class fighters, he tried to find a way to lose, mentally...

I do not see that changing even in this relatively poor era.

 

Bruno would've beat him and perhaps stopped him if Haye got adventurous, but my feeling is Haye's output would be low and he'd go into semi-survival mode so he'd probabily see the final bell, depending on that. Unless Bruno got caught with something big. He would've controlled Haye with his lead hand. I find it hard to see Haye beating any of those big heavies who mixed it at world class level.

 

Yep. A re-run of the Wlad fight, maybe with a different excuse this time instead of a bad toe.

 

Frank was always under-rated in my opinion. Never quite got the respect he deserved during his career because Lennox Lewis was also around. You've got to remember, he was the first man to ever give prime Mike Tyson a real fight.

If he were around nowadays he'd definitely be world champion. Don't think he'd beat Wladimir but I do think he'd beat the likes of Haye and Povetkin.

bruno would be near the top in this era.only wlad would have a chance thats if bruno didnt catch him with a lewis/tyson type shot.if he did wlad would be all over the place.
