Have any fighters retired because they were so disgusted with a certain decision/fight?

Carlos Zarate felt he was robbed against Lupe Pintor in mid 1979 and promptly retired.

(Zarate did make a comeback about 7 years later however - I guess he'd got over it by then  )

That is what I thought, although had Hagler lost in 1985 he would not have retired. He was ready to retire even before Ray wanted to fight him. After Hearns I think his motivationed was much less than prior to that superfight. He put his all mentally and physically into Hearns. Hagler had a press conference after the Leonard comment on that Maryland TV studio where he said he wanted to fight Hagler. In that press conference by Hagler in response to Leonard and also to the Hearns rematch Hagler said he didn't know what he wanted to do. He might fight Leonard or Hearns in a rematch or he might retire. So he was ready to retire. That time Hagler spoke I think was June 24, 1986 a day or so after Hearns fought Medal in the triple hitter card in Vegas which also featured Roberto Duran and Sims,, and McGuigan and Cruz.

George Foreman retired after "losing" to Shannon Briggs. If that hadn't happened, he probably would have fought on a little while longer.

Tiberi and Zarate were the first examples that came to my mind.

IIRC, there was an attempt to arrange a rematch between Hagler and Leonard, but negotiations fell apart.

Henry Armstrong retired after reportedly losing a hotly disputed decision to Chester Slider.

I was hoping Holyfield could be added to this list, after Valuev. :-(

Tiberi was unlucky to drop the decision. But there came point where he needed to 'get over it', and just take the money in a rematch.

From all reports Hagler is still dirty to this day and hates Leonard.
