    A name I hadn't noticed yet:

    Esteban DeJesus.

I thought it was really entertaining to watch his calm, polished style against Duran's high-energy, unorthodox aggression.

And as Duran wore him down in fights II and III, you see some of the calm and polish get scraped away.

That's not exactly what the thread pertains to though.

This all depends on who's textbook you have read.

Some fighters just write their own.

I think Jesey Joe Walcott was one of most textbook boxers there has ever been.

    I think that is ridiculous.

Great technically, but most definitely not textbook. He was very crafty and could improvise.

Yes, that's ridiculous, as Jersey Joe had unorthodox written all over him.

paulie ayala was a very text book fighter, very good at catching punches with his arms and very good at counter punching, someone that was able to capitalize not on athletic ability or any genetic advantage, but rather with timing and coditioning. this along with his good solid technique (and some lucky decisions) enabled him to become such a good fighter that he was and beat fighters that where more seemingly naturally gifted.

Ayala was good, but then again, I thought he lost to Bones Adams.
