That's kinda' what I'm wondering, too. They may feel Mayweather-Guerrero alone is not enough to sell. Which, again, is wishful thinking. Mayweather will sell against anyone. I find it hard to believe GBP would be skeptical enough to add a Canelo-Trout -- which is strong enough of a fight to hold on its own on a seperate date -- to boost the event.

That would be a great fight for Canelo to shut up all the critics.

However Trout is a very tough fight for anyone....except Vanes

Pretty close together. Bit odd for a guy who prefers fighting once a year.

Richard is claiming to be putting together the "biggest boxing event ever" on May 4th -- He's a promoter of course, but this - along with having Broner on the card as well - would be him trying to do that, I guess.

September 14th will be the other big boxing weekend thanks to Mexican Independence Day. As you noted, Floyd will sell regardless but booking that date keeps Top Rank from being able to take it or even counter-program like last year with the Chavez and Canelo fights on the same night.

4 and a half months apart. Probably realises/feels his age. Two massive paydays, and not even sure he'll box after these two.

Yeah, he better capitalize on what he has left while he can get it. Taking a full year or more off the sport has preserved him well but eventually it's going to catch up and possibly backfire on him. I think we'll see him one more time in May 2014, whether he fights this September or not.

Chris Mannix tweeted this morning that Trout was being considered but unlikely (per Schaefer). This seems to be a change from what we have heard over the past week or so.

I posted in another thread my opinion that GBP was pushing for an easier opponent for Canelo to not disrupt the hype for the May-Canelo superfight in September so perhaps this is what is going on. Canelo wants Trout though.

    Great card IF true.....

People **** on GBP, but truth is they do put on super events. Canelo vs Trout is a headline fight in itself and it will be on the undercard.

    Great stuff from GBP....

    .... if true.

There won't be no Floyd-Canelo later this year. Trout is going to beat and derail Canelo

I don't see them putting Broner on the card. He's the 2nd biggest fighter in America right now and would be better off with his own event imo

Exactly. Broner isn't going to be the 3rd fight on the card, no way in hell. I could see him as the co-feature under Floyd-Canelo but if Canelo is fighting on the undercard then we should expect J Leon Love and Mickey Bey Jr on the 3rd and 4th fights respectively.

Wouldn't put it past him to fight again in 2014. Don't see him as the type to go out on a loss, or to fight on past his sell by date.

If Richard was attempting to follow through on his hype, that would be the route. I don't necessarily believe that's what'll happen; even Canelo-Trout is surprising.
