Another comeback scheduled for Millarvie on August 11 in NY over 6 rounds versus that notorious coward and ducker, TBA.

If the past few years are anything to go by, this probably won't happen.

The guy is 32 now, god knows how good he is now or if he can make any sort of impact.

 

Millarvie scheduled to be fighting this tub of lard, weighed in at 305 for his last fight :-(

I think he's seeing how much dough Fury is making and thinking he can have a slice of that pie too, and why not! Good luck, Ian.

 

I thought about this guy ,and it got me thinking about what happend to this guy ,he was suppose to be on a previous prospect show ,but the opponents he was willing to fight were rejected by the board ! Make of that what you will ...

But i remeber reading this and thinking i can never recall were a boxer was sacked by his manager (apart from when there has been drug use )

yeah, Scotland only ever had 3 HWs of note in Dan McGoldrick, Manuel Abrew and Ken Shaw... McGoldrick & Shaw made it Stateside and left a good mark, but Scotland never had a proper HW representative for world honours.

the saddest & most frustrating thing about it is, Millarvie a S-HW, in a **** era outside the Klits, it would have been a fairly smooth road too Contention rights for him and he _ucken threw it all away... hard to understand really(???).

anybody got any inside info about it all?

Billy, look at the date beside my post, I said that back on 2007 ****, I was in my early 30's then, Im the wrong side of 40 now! Older & wiser may I add
What a big waste of space Millarvie turned out to be, that big fella had the Daily Record backing him and everything when he first hit the scene. Lad coulda been huge, but just became huge in a flabby sort of way instead:-(

Anyway back to the question, I probably said that at the time because in the USA he was supposedly getting quality sparring, & Im pretty sure back in 2007 there wasnt much decent if ANY heavyweight sparring partners from Scotland, or guys willing to travel upto Hamilton on a regular basis! In fact, didnt scotland have only one other heavyweight at that time, my namesake Derek McCafferty? So it seemed all good that Millarvie was in the USA, getting top quality sparring that he could only dream about if he was based in a boxing backwater like Hamilton!

But that was then & this is now, last I remember hearing of Millarvie was Tommy Gilmour wanting to kick him up the arse for being so lazy & not training! I have long since tried to banish the Millarvie name from my memory banks...

 

He had two fights scheduled to take place in the US in 2012 but both were called off. I'm pretty sure he lives out there now, but doesn't seem at all interested in fighting.

 

Thats how I cant really get into heavyweight boxing, how many talented fighters have fell by the wayside cos they are allowed to take it easy, AND stuff their face??? I cant stand david Haye, but credit where credits due, when hes in training, he takes it seriously. Chisora cant even be arsed to do weights for the second biggest fight of his life FFS! You get all hyped up for heavyweight tussles, & nine times out of ten? One fighter turns up in shocking shape.

 

so true Dunky,i myself have trained a couple of big guys a few years ago talented guys but f***k me man they wouldnt walk the lengths of themselves

Sorry bud,but it pisses me off people thinking American coaches are better than our,look at there olympic team don't think they even got a medal,the futers bright in the UK and Terry McCormack has a cracking lad in Josh Taylor who will do excellently in the pros

 

I hear you loud & clear Mr N, & I agree. However, sometimes there are exceptions to the rule, & I think a scottish hevyweight prospect if he has the chance, should base himself outside of scotland, cos there aint to many classy big guys hanging around up north to spar with/learn off.
