Floyd Jr is very fast, make no mistake about it, but compared to elite speedsters like RJJ and SRL his reflexes are like a molasses glacier in the antartic.
No, I'd say it's comparable. RJJ was faster but not by light years. The thing that makes Floyd dangerous is his ability to think fast. He has amazing eye contact which most of the time allows him to figure out his opponent's moves before they're launched. Roy doesn't really go into a fight with plan B or C. He basically runs through guys like a tank. He's so gifted that he doesn't really have to think. He just had to beat the other guy to the punch. Also, Floyd has exceptional timing which kills speed. What happens when Roy gets hurt? What happens when that tank gets slowed down? He usually ends up getting stopped. Guys like Floyd and JMM find ways to adjust and are able to turn the tide. If we're going in a long war, I'll take prime Floyd over prime Roy. If we're in a short but brutal battle then I'd recruit Roy.
You should get your eyes checked. Floyd is very fast, especially in his feints. His timing is also ridiculous. Pulling off sharp counters requires extremely fast reflexes. Very few boxers can pull off pull counters like he could. Most people considers a guy fast with fast punches/combos. THey are appealing to the eye but most people can throw fast punches. It is where the punches make their mark really shows someone's speed. To land with accuracy in a fast manner is what true speed is. Roy is flat out blurring all around. He got faster hands especially for his size but his timing is nowhere near Floyds. SRL got fast hands but SRL doesn't use as much fients as Floyd and doesn't counter punch as much either. All three are fast in their own way.
Roy's refelxes were faster, but not Ray's. Both had faster hands, but Mayweather at 130 had very very fast hands
I disagree. Roy does a lot of fake outs with his feet and ambushes his opponents. Floyd is waiting on his opponents to throw and selects a punch to go over his opponents attack. Anyone who has ever laced up a pair of gloves would know how hard it is to react as soon as your opponent is reacting. Very difficult.
What are you MOFOS?! Noobs!?? His faster days are behind him and he is still fast, check out his lightweight days ya bunch off noobs! That's right folks, Floyd first fight isn't ODLH. I know I know....shocking
RJJ may have been mor exposive and diliver a punch quicker than Ray, but ray seemed to be the king of combos.
At times when Floyd plants his feet and is confident enough to throw a combination, SOMETIMES his speed is comparable and sometimes not as much. But then most of his targets are/were alot more stationary and easier to find than most opponents SRL and RJJ had to handle in their primes. Floyd is impressive, but never was consistent with his combinations like SRL and Rjj. They both were bigger, naturally heavier fighters which makes it more impressive. Not sure how Floyd would handle a Toney-type fighter or prime Hearns at least concerning his speed. Of course, their is more to Floyd than his speed, which makes him special, but I think his speed gets overrated alot. When he's fought speedy fighters like Judah and Mosley he didn't look very fast to me. Of course, when he faces a slower opponent he looks like the flash.
As others have indicated, I would say that Roy and SRL are both faster than Floyd, but not by a massive margin.
