i think this would be a pretty decent match up. mayorga took alot from the bigger trinidad before being stopped at a higher weight.

mayorga crude but he could hurt cotto if cotto was hurt by chop chop

Cotto by decision, at least Cotto has more skill.

Damm good call. I was thinking about this fight a few weeks back and didnt post it. It would be a great fight.

I think Cotto takes it, because of his sustained body attack. The Mayorga that blew out Forrest did so because he took Forest out of his element. I think Cotto is calm enough to wither that, and bang the body, and eventually get a late stoppage.

    you are really reaching....lol

Cotto took arguably one of the hardest and fastest punchers at 147 and KTFO'd him. What makes you think that a wild punching guy like Mayorga will have a better chance?

I love how people keep going back to the stone age to pull things out as arguments :yep

Cotto doesn't hit as hard as Trinidad, and Mayorga was eating a lot of good shots by Tito. I don't think Cotto's chin would hold up to a lot of Mayorga's power. Mayorga may be sloppy, but he'd have a better chance at beating him than people think.

The Mayorga that blew away Forrest could, anyway.. I don't know what Mayorga's like these days.

Yes but this wouldnt be about his chin, it would be about his body.

Maybe because Mayorga is bigger and stronger and hits a ton and has(had) and rock chin. It's called styles my friend Forrest beat Mosley then got laid out by Mayorga.

    i think its pretty legit,

forrest beat shane mosley (who was arguably thee hardest and fastest puncher... p4p at the time) and beat him twice. forest was rivaling roy jones as the pound for pound number 1 at the time.

mayorga smoked him in three rounds

mayorga may not have won but he could have did something if they ever fought

Very true, but he became a head hunter against Mayorga.

No contest. Cotto by knockout to the body. Mayorga has never been punished as much as he would be that night.

Well, the first body punch he threw that landed put Mayorga on his ass. That was the first kd.

Cotto would be hitting that body at 00:01 of the first round. I think it would have ended in about 4 rds, Cotto Ko Mayorga body shots.

Point taken, but I still wouldn't count Mayorga out that easily. Mayorga has been taken too litely by people since his losing to Trinidad and DLH. He was still a real tough guy who could pack a hard punch.

No your right, at 147 he was a damm good fighter, with balls and a chin, and he also carried his power much better than at 154lbs.

actually trinidad head hunted the entire night up until the last two rounds the 7th and 8th he started landing some mean body shots and that is what did Mayorga in ! It wasn't the devestating head shots that took mayorga out against tito it was the body shots that tito didn't even throw until the 7th and 8th !

roy jones mentioned it also that had tito invested in the body from the beginning that the fight would have been 10 times easier for him !
