No son learn your ****. He had a detached retina in 82, came back in 84 against Kevin Howard, got knocked down. RETIRED AGAIN because he said he lost all of his skill and had no drive.

No it doesn't - not relative to his resume.

SRL's legacy is set - he beat Benitez, Duran, Hearns and Hagler at or very close to their peak.

Floyd has nothing remotely to compare.

    Stop being silly

I'm actually trying my best to keep it civil with you MVC,but you and that other guy lost the plot for a while.
You know I'm a big fan of Floyd but when you say Ray fought cans until Bemnitez you're going right back into silly mode.
I don't expect you to care what I think but I am trying to engage you in a measured discussion here.

Good lord. No one is saying that FMJ > SRL. L2read boy.

All I'm saying is people knock FMJ too much for "Retiring" when it's blatantly obvious that SRL retired for longer periods of time (Not because of a detached retina please)

SRL gets **** on for more than just his holidays.
Anyways you make it sound like Leonard didn't get grief for his actions, he did, as much if not more than FMJ.

Not sure what you're getting at.....

People only come to one conclusion when someone easily dominates the opposition and that's "everyone is not good enough/too weak". Everyone forgets the possibility that everyone is good but the person whose beating them all is extremely good.

There's also the bias of "the good old days". That the boxers in the past are much better than the boxers of today. There is no way to really tell objectively and systematically that one generation of boxers is better than another. It is speculation.

Hands of Iron will verify that a few weeks back, there was an unusually high(compared to normal) barrage of hate for Ray on here but it's nice to see him getting some due respect again here even allowing for the naysayers posting here.

And I know that wasn't your point BF but just though I'd mention it.:good

You're a little too nice about it.

If Ray was fighting cans pre-title, you could describe Floyd's top five wins as such in comparison to Leonard. I'd really let that one go. Ray actually wiped out as many contenders before Benitez than Floyd did over his entire time at 130 and 135, combined.

I'll keep it civil as well. Who then?

Ranzany/Sr/Price? Come on dude. They aren't elite fighters.

They weren't elite, but they were steady step-ups.You're talking like Floyd fought a HOF'r in his third fight here.

Come on mate.Your suggestion makes no sense.Every fighter has to...
You know what,**** it.You don't need me to finish that sentence because it's a completely futile exercise.

Once again, my point is that people are always saying how SRL's activity > Floyd's but it's completely false.

Floyd going up, he fought every month

SRL TOOK just as many if not more vacations/retirements than Floyd and that's a fact.
You could say it's a detached retina, but that was only a MINOR setback because he fought in 84 and he even said in the post fight conference "It's my skill level, it's depreciated, it's my drive, it's no longer there"

I just think you could have used a different approach. There are two many holes in the one you plumped for.
I personally wouldn't bother getting annoyed about people slating Floyd's inactivity. He still remained P4P#1 without fighting,so who gives a ****?

Best to leave Ray out of it mate.
