Fenech fought Shingaki for the title, At that stage Shingaki had 10 fights with one loss and a draw.. Oh and he finished his stellar career with a record of 11-3-1, The defense of his title before he fought Fenech was against a fighter making his PRO DEBUT and he won that fight via a 15 round Spilt decision , lets see you try and compare that with Ottke..

 

Jesus TC know your boxing knowedge is better then that , Mundine aint no Fenech . Fenech whether you like him or not achieved 1000 times more in the sport then Choc could ever dream off . Granted Mundine had real ability early in his career but has wasted it by just not going the [ whole hog , all out , putting everything on the line ] and has turned into a smoke and mirror , self promoter street wise hustler since the Kessler fight . To most boxing fans Fenech is up there with Tsyzu and Darcy while Choc is still behind his legendary old man the truly great Tony Mundine who fough legends.

 

imho its all about workrate vs boxing skills. Fenech just didnt have the full set of boxing skills, he was well managed and used his workrate and brawling type style to break down his opponents. And dont get me wrong, i was a HUGE fan of fenechs back in the days. Boxing has evolved alot since the fenech days. Fenech would swarm his opponent, fight on the inside, brawl, ,maul, non stop aggression, his style was somewhat similar to Roberto Duran's whom was also a brawler but a very smart type brawler at that.

We all know what happen to Duran when he fought someone with the skills and speed of Ray Lenoard, i honestly feel the same thing would have occured had Fenech met Mundine in the ring. Unless Fenech can impose his will, non stop agression then he is pretty much farked and can not win a fight against a slick and fast boxer like Mundine, he has to get lucky and catch a fighter like Mundine, Fenech would eat 4 punches just to land one, the Gattis of boxing dont really last anymore because boxing is about skills, its not about pure aggression anymore, fenechs era is over and has been for sometime, fighters that try and mimic this style of fighting just dont go anywhere these days, take Katsidis as an example.

 

You don't know ****. Boxing has evolved bull****. Skill wise it's degressed Charley Burley never won a title George Benton never won a title check them out on you tube. Archie Moore ray Robinson Jersey Joe Walcott now that's skill. Today's guys have nothing on the few I've named.
Fenech achieved way more then choc.
Roberto Duran was a very skilled boxer. (not a brawler) could fight front foot and back foot.
Choc who relies on speed and reflexes and fundamentals are floored these fighters don't age well. I'll give you an example RJJ and Benard Hopkins RJJ very fast and athletic beat Hopkins when both were young but Hopkins well schooled and great fundamentals had much longer carreer because when your older and you slow down and fundamentals are floored you can no longer get by on you reflexes. You got nothing to fall back on!

Yeah TC , most of us know that Chocs got world class ability , but our knock on him is that hes failed to deliver on it - its like that behind all the media bravado hes afraid to step up and deliver a top performance on the world stage - just looks like hes content to be top dog in Oz and masks any critisism with media hustle and ego bravado talk . To a lot of us he gives the feeling hes insecure and fights scared [bar the green , echolls and kessler fights ] and has turned every fight lately into a [ do as little as possible each round chess match ] designed with one or two flurries with a few jabs to capture the judges eyes . Have'nt seen him go all out for a round and go the whole hog to finish off any outclassed opponents in last half of career. Choc will have made more money than probably any other Aussie sportsman by the end of his career but he'll be the only one still sprouting his legacy in years to come of being australias greatest ever athlete and boxer cause no one else believes it.
