Lockett Nelson Booth Farnell Gallagher Hatton Coldwell Vaughan Lee Weir McCracken Calzaghe Fearon Fury Anyways.....how will 2013 fair......for them and there charges ? Yes.....i forgot some......feel free to add them :good
Lockett - Doing very well with Gavin Rees, his rejuvenation is, in part at least, down to him. I expect Rees to lose against Broner but maybe another HBO/SHO opportunity comes off the back of a good performance. Nelson - Obviously Ricky is his star fighter, not sure on the rest of his fighters Appleby? Simpson? Is he training McEwan? There's a opportunity to really show how good he is IMO I see no reason why he can't repeat the rebuilding job on McEwan that he did on Burns. Booth - The one I'm most interested in especially now he has Aydin and Andy Lee. I think, if everything clicks that he could do good things with Lee; I could definitely see him fighting a Booth style. The Hayemaker gym has probably the most quality in the country, they have four fighters at least at fringe world level there. Farnell - Paul Butler looks the biz, not sure who else he has really Gallagher - Had a torrid time recently, big drop from his 44-0(?) run he had going. I don't really see the Smiths doing much and Crolla is in a tough, tough division. Its doesn't look healthy IMO Hatton - Thought he got his tactics spot on for Rabchenko against Rhodes, aside from that I'm not really sure who he is training etc. Think Rabchenko stops Brian Rose though. Coldwell - Not training anymore McCracken - I thought he'd leave Team GB and bring Joshua with him but that may happen after the worlds in Oct. I'd expect another solid year both AM and pro for him. His achievements over the past few years have been fantastic. Calzaghe - Don't expect much in 2013 Fearon - Does he train? I thought he was a promoter/manager? Fury - Seems to be the right guy physically and mentally, kind of seems that Tyson trusts him and is more of an athlete and fighting more sensibly (going by his last two fights). Not sure the alleged Vitali fight is the right one for him but I won't moan if its made!
Nice input Lilo........will have a proper scan over ya response laters. Thought Calzaghe had someone new.......or heard something recently. Fearon........ya probs right though i always had the impression he was a bit more than ya mentioned. The guy that works with him or he passes up for......he defo deserves a mention........slick curly white hair and a caretaker jacket.......proper smooth too. Nelson has Brophy....was an amateur champ then went n played pro footy....then turned over with him (if all that is correct) He manages McEwan still.......i think.........but dosent train him or the afore mentioned. Anyways......spot-on response :good
Scanning over like i did Lilo.........and seeing stuff i wanna wax lyrical on haha. Cheers and...............i will be back :thumbsup
Mark (& Jimmy) Tibbs - Looking like it could be Billy Joe's time to really shine now, I really wouldn't rule out a Euro title or even WBO interim at some point in 2013. Mitchell might come back and might get in the mix for the British title or even the Euro now that Rees has vacated (?)
What is Phil Fury's background? Did he box much himself and has he trained anyone else does anyone know? Seems to have benefited Tyson so far. McCracken is one I was actually slightly disappointed in last year. Sounds mad with the year he had; Froch was superb in his fights and take nthing away from McCracken there. And team GB picked up a lot of medals. However, I think Team GB were gifted some of those and many of the fighters seemed to have the same problem (very slow and ponderous footwork being the first I remember). Was it just me who thought this?
Phil Fury's background is in English Language Teaching coupled with the odd countdown appearance :yep You were disappointed in McCracken's 2012? atsch He has brought through the best British boxing team in decades, delivered in a home Olympics and trained Britain's best boxer to his career best win. Yeah, I'm disappointed too; I though a Nobel peace prize was on the cards.
Didn't really read what I said did you Lilo. Credited him for his fantastic work with Froch. As for the Olympians...guess i'll have to parrot myself. Was disappointed by most/all of them. Brought in a load of medals but for me many of them were gifts and undeserved and the whole team displayed similar flaws. Or we just disagree, which is fine.
well we at least deserved a couple of gold and a couple of silver. Considering 8 years ago Khan's lone silver medal was all we got, and before that Audley, I don't see how we can be "dissapointed" our fighters always make better pros than amateurs usually, so I was quite happy with it. The other upside of those "robberies" is a big boost of funding for amatuer boxing, which can only be a good thing, so it's not all bad.
