Tony Bellew v Isaac Chilemba

He does have a very good jab but doesn't always use it, if he can establish it early he should win if he doesn't then I can see him having a long night

 

Oosthuizen is pretty good I think, he's a tricky fighter to beat with his range and activity.

Chilemba is 6'1. Good fight for Tony, tough but this is boxing and tony should be in hard fights. Chilemba is better than anything Clev has fought.

It was pretty much the only punch he thew against Miranda for the first several rounds, in all Tony's recent fights it's proved his main asset.

 

the better Bellew has got his fights have less fun to watch Miranda and Bollonti where really boring fights to watch but really good performances i wonder if the bomber will return in front of a home crowd

 

hello lads , Tony as were all agreed is a very different fighter to the bellew we watched 2 years ago, this will be another move in the right direction and itl end in him winning.
Itl take something special in a special fight to beat bellew now

 

If the 'Bomber' returns then Bellew won't go beyond this level, Bellew is a skilled technician, when he brawls he's crude and vulnerable, his technique deserts him.

I don't find Bellew boring, but the Miranda fight was hard to watch.

 

Good move forward. Will prepare him for the top level. If he wins he will deserve another world title fight. Lose and its back to domestic level at 200lbs for Tony.

This will be a snooze fest. Mainly because Bellew no longer has any confidence in his chin and he'll continue to box safe as to not risk getting sparked out, thus costing him a shot at a title.

Not that I blame him, it's a business and Bellew's main objective is to earn as much money as he can to provide for his family. Living up to his Bomber nickname would cost him, quite literally. The plan is clear, box safe against a procession of mediocre opponents until he gets the call for world title fight.

 

This sums up exactly the importance of Tony's jab. When he applies it consistently, he really can look World Class because the jab is so penetrating that it opens up the combinations for him and when he does this, his shots flow nicely and seem to have more snap in them.

If he tries to force it and neglect the jab, it can look a bit more clumsy and the shots yhat he winds up often don't hit the target cleanly or miss altogether. It's not so much of a worry against lesser guys but when stepping up against the likes of Chilemba, it's important to stick behind the jab and work from there. He doesn't need to force his punches because clearly he carries a great deal of power naturally anyway.
