I know Floyd would win if they fought now. But what do yall think if Berto fought more and was impressive with his current style

Needs to improve his defence alot, floyd would tee off on him all night at the moment, if he could improve that then its possible

No, I don't think he does

Berto isn't a great inside fighter (like Castillo) or a technical pressure fighter (like Cotto). He's a strong, stiff, and fast mid-range fighter whose main weapon is the jab. He doesn't have great head movement either. I don't see him having much success boxing against Floyd.

I do, because Berto's talents are similiar to PBF's. He can match PBF's hand speed and ability to get off combinations and with that, you've always got a chance. But as the poster above me said, he needs to know what defense is because he comes forward a bit too much when you consider that he could be a good boxer and pick his spots more instead of exposing himself by coming in all the time.

Don't forget the fact that he's suceptable to left hooks despite being a right handed fighter. That's bad news against a guy with a quick, strong left hook. His offense is pretty predictable as well. That's not good news against a great defensive fighter.

But Berto throws uppercuts and I have not seen to many of Floyds oppents throw that at will. But I know Floyd said he likes Berto and Calzaghe. So he must see something in him also. Man and you need to be a trainer. :good

nope. But this is a little unfair as Berto is still developing as a fighter and Floyd is on top of his game. Berto has good tools to work with, but as we see him right now, there is no way his style would match up well to Floyd.

    Good points as well

It might take Floyd 2 or 3 rounds to fully adjust to Berto's quick hands and physical strength, but once he does, he'd be in full control.

i think andre berto is a very solid up and coming fighter but he is 22 fights i believe into his career and he still hasnt improved his footwork, he still too flat footed a guy like quintana would school him so imagine floyd mayweather.

I don't know yall, but I just see so much in this guy, and think he will become the future. I just hope his chin is cool to handle Cotto or Margo

Berto is really aggressive but Floyed will know how to use his reach advantage and keep him at distance with the jab and tie him up inside!

Obviously, PBF is the king in this sport and anyone fighting him would be the underdog but Berto's got the type of talent to really challenge a guy like PBF if he uses his talents the right way.

What is the substitute for hand speed? I mean can you get out of the way of a punch you can't see? Berto has great hand speed just like PBF. I know this is all premature but if he continues to improve, it would be a fun fight.

:D Funny enough, I was a trainer for about a year or so (a long time ago, too. Early 1980s I want to say). After quitting my amateur career, I wanted to stay involved with boxing in such a way that I didn't get punched in the head. So I worked with a few kids, teaching them the fundamentals and basics. We started with footwork and punch technique, moved on to body sparring, and then moved on to actual sparring.

A few continued with it and one actually had a pretty good showing in the Golden Gloves as a welterweight.

Berto/Mayweather would be Gatti/Mayweather II. Mayweather would hit Berto all night long until the fight is stopped

IMHO i think berto just has an extremely quick jab but not very quick hand-speed overall
