Sanders is an ambush fighter who is dangerous for about three rounds. He rarely got in to shape and consequently his stamina was terrible. He was also not very durable. If Wlad kept range and boxed at all, he would win the fight because Corries threat is very transient. If he starts throwing big rights or the left hook then he would win by knockout.
The wladdy today, will pepper sanders, and if sanders DOES land, this time wladdy will hold, and compose himself... and keep peppering sanders...and as soon as one of those crosses lands on sanders , it will buckle sanders, to the point of tko... sanders was an underdog for a reason, he's not that great...lighting will not strike twice... even with an older wladdy
Wlad has improved massively but not enough for me to think the result would be different prime for prime. Sanders really kicked his arse that night. Countered perfectly and jumped on him till he wilted. Stranger things have happened but I can't see it to be honest. (just to derail the thread slightly I also pick Douglas over Tyson prime for prime).
Wlad would do much better than last time, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was stopped again. He was able to deal with Haye because of a combination of the size difference and the style matchup -- Haye is a counterpuncher who doesn't like to lead or throw combinations. He could make Wlad miss but he couldn't make him pay. Sanders, on the other hand, had the size and style to get to Wlad. He knew how to lead with powerful, straight punches, and the fact that he was a southpaw made things even more tricky. He also had pretty quick hands.
Perhaps you've never actually seen that fight? Well, at least you're consistent with your DKSAB-ness.
Dammit did I derail the thread? to both Dino and ears: Tyson will always have a punchers chance against any hw but Douglas really kicked the **** out of Tyson. I mean he battered him from pillar to post for 10 rounds before knocking him out. I see nothing to suggest mike should be a favourite over Douglas. yeah Tyson could have trained harder but then again so could buster. Tyson was still in his physical prime and if he chose to **** off his training schedule it's his own fault. He had his chance to prove he could beat buster and he blew it.
Today's Wlad gets a ring twice the size of the first one and holds a hell of a lot more. That Wlad tried to fight. This one is safety first. Wlad by decision.
Sanders gets whooped. And I like Sanders. But Wlad doesn't have the same hunched over, semi-lean forward style he did back then. He had no answer for the southpaw straight left in that fight. He's fought a lot of southpaws since then and has been untouchable. Sanders' size and speed could make it interesting for a few rounds, but he doesn't have the stamina to keep it together long. Wlad waits him out, jabs him to ****ing death, and gets a late KO.
Wlad couldn't get a jab established in the first one. I still don't know that he would've, given that Sanders charges in from strange angles.
Wlad's jab, as good as it was then, isn't even in the ballpark of what it is now. It's practically a right hand itself at this point. That being said, Sanders COULD catch him early. But I doubt it, frankly. Wlad's footwork is CRAZY better now, especially when it comes to keeping you at HIS distance.
