Frankie Gavin to fight Jason Welborn in Jan

looking forward to this now,

alright the Gavin v Welborn fight might not be brilliant but its interesting Welborn although massive underdog does have a pucnhers chance he's shown hes got power in the past.

Gethin V Murphy (the real main event for me) also could be a *******

+ Chris Keane taking on Shane Mcphillbin for the Midlands cruiserweight belt, big step up for local lad Keane be interesting to see how he handles it.

its got the scene buzzing locally sold out some time ago (apparently the box office have even set up a list for people who want tickets in case of any returns)

 

Terrible fight this can't believe this is actually for the British title, Gavin career is such a disappointment

 

Rabbit hole may have done well in the past but he at the moment is a career wrecker and thats about it...unfortunately he's probably got them all tied in somehow.

Gavin is probably around prime age and needs to be moved on quickly not fighting fights like this. Mind you I dont watch any of the stuff on BN or no longer follow any of his fighters (Thankfully)

 

He's only fought 9 times in the last three ****ing years. It's bull****. Gavin should have been far more active than he has been, but against better opposition now.

That was simular to Brook 15 fights in 5-1/2 year's, The last being against taxi driver from Joe's cafe in Ghana, All within 18 month of being with Matchroom Brook has had 6 step up fight's + fighting a boneyfied world champ in Devon Alexander, as mando, :good

 

this is a disgrace to be honest no disrespect to welborn but there are plenty of other fighters who have done and achieved far more than him too deserve this shot clearly shows that dean powell looks after his select thew i.e skeete, bulionil, billy jo ,butler all got titles or about to fight for one and have thaught bums,past its or simply no namers...:silly
too get some of these title fights official rob smith must have been on a couple of deans famous walks with him...atsch

 

Gavin will retire this year, you watch. He just hasn't got what it takes to cut it at world level.

If he stayed at amateur, we'd be talking about of the greatest British amateurs of all time. Instead we're talkingnaboutnhow he has been a flop.

The end of this year, his career will be over. His career has been terrible so far.

 

Without being disrespectful i've never heard of Jason Welborn..

 

I'm losing interest in his career, I too think he hasn't got what it takes to reach the top, but you can't say he will retire because of it, then again he has shown mental frailties over the last few years.

His career hasn't exactly been terrible, he's British champion, something he should be very proud of.

 

True, but I just think that the lack of progress/big fights over the past few years will make him think "well, what's going to change next year?" And he'll grow the towel in.

I hope he doesn't.

 

Mental issues can be overcome.

The best thing for Frankie would have been to take 12 months off after he first saw a shrink and get proper treatment without any pressure. He could still have gone to the gym and kept some structure but with no pressure on him.

But that's easier said than done.

I still hope he comes good but if he were to pack it all in tomorrow he's achieved more than most and has a lot to be proud off.

 

I won't be packing it in, it's all I know an love, I am really starting to enjoy my boxing again, I'm happy at home living a good life, just want to be kept busy it's good to be out so early after witter fight just hope I stay busy now like this..

 

I really would like to see Gavin with a better promoter. He can be a brilliant fighter but he's been far too inactive and it's hurt his performances, and career direction. If he is going to fulfill his ambition, I think he needs a promoter who has the same ambition he does have. Frank hasn't done enough with Gavin, who most would have agreed was a hugely promising prospect when he turned pro. He can still achieve big things in the sport but not at the rate he's been going at.

Realistically, he should be fighting a good European class opponent now or even someone like Purdy or Vassell. This is a backwards step after a good win...but why? Who benefits from this? Gavin certainly doesn't.

 

fish eyes needs to stop messing about and throw gavin in with denton vasell or lee purdy.

 

Welborn is not even in the British top 10. How have the Board allowed this to be a title fight?
